Dog Obedience Centres/clubs

Hi

My puppy is now completely vaccinated and has started his walks outside and visiting dog parks around our area. He is really good with meeting new dogs but I would like to get him into a dog obedience club as soon as possible to let him meet new people and dogs and of course to be exposed to obedience training.

Does anyone have an recommendations for good obedience clubs on Brisbanes southside? My puppy is a cross breed, will this affect what obedience clubs will let him join?

thanks

LA, the southside is a big area, can you give us an idea of what area on the southside?

The fact that he's a crossbreed should make absolutely no difference to the club  .

sorry, I am near Logan but am willing to travel to as far as Mt Gravatt to the north and as far south as Beenleigh if this helps out at all

thanks

Try Southside - Southside Dog Obedience Club Inc, contact Mrs A MacMaster PO Box 2273 Runcorn 4113. (07) 5522 6990. [email protected] www.geocities.com/southsidedogs . One of the people on this forum, varicool, trains there & says it's good, perhaps PM her & go & have a look at training one night  .

There is also Logan All Breeds Obedience Club which while others have told me of bad experiences, I've not had any (yet I would never set foot in Southside again from my past experiences).

Depending on where in Logan you are, Jimboomba Obedience Club might also be fairly close.

:mad

ML, I didn't now you trained at Logan, it's nice to hear something positive about it as (as you know) I used to train there, but have heard a couple of negative things about it lately. Next time you are down say hi to Lawrie & Laura from me  .

 we went to a herding seminar on the weekend & the boy was the star student, worked really really well in the round yard, the guy running it said if I ever wanted to get rid of him he'd take him - I said no chance  .

I don't train at Logan at the moment - I don't train for obedience anywhere - I have trained there in the past. Congrats on the achievements you guys are having together, I'm so glad to hear you were a perfect match.

  • 2 weeks later...

Maybe a tad too far but we attend www.centenarydogobedience.com.au at Darra. I have nothing yet to compare it too but we love it.

All different breeds, lots of crosses and dogs of all ages.

The instructor is training me nicely. I'm learning so much and my puppy is loving me for it.

take care.

Hey slightly off topic question... Mysticview: if I were to rock up at southside with an already trained dog who I want to proof for obedience competition would you guys make me go through all the classes or could I just jump into the advance class (whatever its called)? My pup will hopefully be ready for trials by the end of the year and I hope to start proofing her soon so will be looking for a club to do that at. I used to go to Bonnies too but like you its now a bit far away for me!!!
