Poodle wrangler
No great recipes from me, but I like my son's description of the mince, rice & veg mix as "dog salad" ;) .
Gomez the Norfolk
probably a pretty obvious one, but for sick doggies, i.e. the runs, vomiting, etc... Boil some chicken parts in water - then use that water to cook some brown rice, well overcooked, add some more water or stock* if needed. Shred the chicken and mix it in to the rice. let it cool completely and "serve" it soupy... It's good as it is very bland and lets their body get on with healing and not too much digesting... *do not use stock cubes, powder or premade stuff, too much salt, preservatives, etc - just stock from boiled chicken or bones Edited April 9, 2007 by Gomez the Norfolk

EllieD
Shmoo this is one of Dr Harry's recipes...you might be interested in it, very good for doggy fresh breath! Preparation time: 20 mins Cooking time: 30 mins Makes about 36 biscuits You'll need 2-3 cups finely chopped/minced fresh parsley 1/4 cup finely chopped carrot 1/4 cup grated Mozzarella cheese 2 tbsp vegetable oil (preferably olive) 2 3/4 cups wholemeal flour 2 tbsp unprocessed bran flakes 2 tsp baking powder 1/2 -1 cup water Here's how Step 1 Preheat the oven to 180C. Lightly grease 2 baking sheets or put baking paper on them. In a small bowl mix the parsley, carrots, cheese and oil. In another bowl, stir together the flour, bran and baking powder. Add the parsley mixture and stir well. Gradually add 1/2 cup water. Mix well, adding more water if needed to make the dough moist. Knead for 1 minute on a floured surface. Step 2 Roll the dough to 1cm thickness. Using a small dog-bone cookie cutter, or even a glass if you don't have cookie cutters, cut as many shapes as you can, re-rolling the scraps. Put them on the baking sheets. Bake for 20-30 minutes, or until biscuits have browned. Cool on a rack. The biscuits will harden as they cool. Store in an airtight (and dogproof) container for up to two months.

benny123
Not my recipe, but a trainer at our obedience club does this for training treats completely free of preservatives etc (haven't tried it myself, yet). 1 lambs fry cut into small dice or thin strips then chopped into small pieces. Place the pieces in a single layer on a microwave plate - not plastic (she suggests using the tempered glass plate that comes with the microwave as others can't take the heat and length of cooking). Microwave on high for about 35 minutes - until completely dehydrated ** (if there is any moisture left they will spoil quickly). When completely dehydrated and cool, sore in a container - she says they will last forever. ** Time may vary with different mocrowaves. The meat must be completely dry, so suggest checking and adjustung cooking time to suit the microwave. Edited April 10, 2007 by benny123

If the book is about how to handle a foster dog for a newby, then I'll take the whole book. Just PM me when it's ready, happy to pay for the printing cost. I keep on forgetiing to bring the recipe book to the office. I'll make a note in my diary so I remember tomorrow. Sorry for the delay....
