ikast
hi, we have a new bearded collie puppy 2mths and our 15mth border collie (dutch) will not play with him, dutch is not aggressive or mean he just acts as if the puppy is invisible. When dutch does see other dogs in the park he is so over friendly we have to call and call to get him back. Will this friendship blossom between the pup and dog? can someone help with some tips to help the friendship start. thanks
Heidley
I think it's different for Dutch because this new pup is at home in what was previously his pack's place, sounds like he's checking the new guy out. Don't forget to make a fuss over him to as puppies make it easy for us to fuss over them. Also do a bit of a search on here as a few people have covered this topic too and might have some good strategies for you. Cheers

king
Same thing happened when we took our puppy home, after about a week the older dog started paying the pup more and more attention and now they are the very best of friends. Just give them time to get used to each other and they will be friends before you know it.

Janba
I am going through exactly the same thing with my new BC pup and my older BC except that Moss showed aggression to the pup a few times. Because of this I am still careful about letting them together unsupervised. I have decided that what Moss doesn't like is the pup running under him or chewing on him. He has also been ignoring him if the pup can't get to him. After 2 weeks he is just starting to play with him and is starting to accept him. I have been feeding the older dog first, showing him a lot of affection and extra training sessions, which he loves.
