Aljenit
Hi there Can anyone tell me how often shelties shed and how long it goes on for? She does drop hair most of the time but at the moment there is hair everywhere! We are brushing her every day and she has been for a bath and blow dry. Is it also normal for them to scratch and itch a bit more during this time? Is there anything else we should do? Cheers Aljenit
ShesaLikeableBiBear
How old is your puppy?. Ours is 21 weeks and she has for the last 6 weeks or so been losing her puppy fluff, we brush her daily to help with the puppy coat drop. There is no fixed time frame in which they take to lose that puppy coat. The bath and blow dry which have given your puppy will certainly help. Many thanks for your reply, Millie is 10 and half months old. We will keep on with the brushing - thank goodness she doesn't mind! Poodle wrangler
Itching? I'm in South Coast NSW area and the fleas/ mozzies etc. are a big problem around here at the moment. Frontline didn't work for me (freebie sample from vet for pup) who had fleas a week after Frontline application. Am switching to Advantix. What kind of brush do you use? Do you part the fur to get right down to skin? Are slicker brushes suitable for shelties? I use one on my sister's short-haired crossbreed and it gets a lot of fur out. Use it on poodles with longer fur, too, for general brushing, so may be suitable for sheltie??? If you bath, brush first to avoid tangles. Get a poodle- don't shed at all .
