Her Majesty Dogmad
Unfortunately this is very common with hairdressers too!! An occupational hazard I think.
Peachie
Yep, i get that all the time - the worst is when it gets in your BRA!!! In winter, i usually wear a singlet with a highish neck, but in summer, especially the one we have just had, forget it! Those aerobic midrif singlets help as well. With the hairs inside your arms at the elbow, i just hose my arms when i am done clipping. If you have dry, cracked hands, use more moisturiser more regularly, and just rinse off your hands if it gets too much whilst clipping. I guess you could wear surgical gloves, but i dont like them myself. Carry some tweezers to get the hairs out of your fingers/hands that dont rinse off. That's all i can suggest - unfortunately, like dogs licking us to death, it is part of the job.
frufru
I only have a problem when I clip non-poodle breeds. I apply a liberal amount of baby powder to areas such as creases of elbow, neck and chest . Also use the turbo dryer to blow hair from my apron, clothing etc.

I often use it on my face as well on dogs i am drying who are loosing a heap of hair. Another tip for doing that - keep your mouth SHUT..... Good idea about the baby powder tho. I will remember that. Now i come to think of it, i dont have a problem with the soft haired dogs either. It's the summer shave offs - retrievers, B/collies etc.

Vehs
Do any groomers have fake nails? One of my coworkers had them for a month or so and when she got the removed the "situation" between her fake nail and real nail was horrible! I think one nail bed was infected. I found a cocker hair stuck in my finger webbing..... after 2 weeks off grooming!

poodle3081
The occupational health and safety concerns of long term exposure to hair fibres is an issue in the US where most professional grooming businesses use a clipper vacuum system such as the Taxi Vac or Romani. It takes time to get used to using them as they seem awkward at first, but finished results and lack of hair both on you and ingested make them worthwhile. MTD
That's all i can suggest - unfortunately, like dogs licking us to death, it is part of the job. But you love it. Its what I miss the most since selling my dog wash business . All those kisses and cuddles.
Maverick
I know of a lady who got a cocker hair in her nipple and it got infected as she didn't notice it.. So be careful ladies. I always have a shower after clipping.
Ashka
Female sheep shearers can buy special wool proof bras. Some sheep grow wool more like hair. Stock and station agents or similar might be able to help.
kendall
I find cocker hair the WORST. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO don't say that!!! I will be learning how to groom my future cocker pup myself - didn't know it was going to be THAT bad
BC
I have had all of the above and continue to on a daily basis. Yes, nipples are by far the worst. No matter what I wear those sneaky little hairs work their way down my top But I love all of the little babies so I cant complain too much. becks
The nylon groomers tops are really good at stopping the hairs digging in your body. I never use my hand to sweep up the hair on the table and this seems to be a big thing for me, with getting the loose hairs stuck into my skin. I have been grooming over 10 years now and seem to no longer get the hairs stuck between my fingers. Do worry about the hair that has been breathed in over the years though!
