whatevah
Moses won't be at the RSPCA day just Josh and Tia. Moses is out of action for awhile due to seed injury. He has a drainage tube and stiches at the moment, it is under the health forum. Josh and Tia will also be doing lure coursing on Sunday. Wagalot where are the pictures that you posted from the sheep dog clinic? That was a great day. Edited March 14, 2007 by CrashTestDummy
JulesP
Can I ask a silly question? Are the sheepies ok with it all? I wanted to go but was a bit worried about the sheepies! I know they are only sheep but I don't want to distress them just so my pet border can have a go at herding! Oh and Leopuppy I was watching that vid thinking who is that noisey dog and then I heard the word Kinta!
whatevah
They regularly rotated the sheep around. They used sheep that were used to dogs.

Oh and Leopuppy I was watching that vid thinking who is that noisey dog and then I heard the word Kinta! :D The sheep are regularly used with dogs so are used to their antics. One was even eyeballing Kinta as if to say.... so if I don't move 'whatcha gonna do?!" As CTD said -they are rotated regularly. LOL no-one is meant to know that my dogs are barkers Kinta was saying "my sheepies"!!!!
jesomil
I know this is a little off topic but i didnt think it was worth starting another thread over as the RSPCA day had been discussed in here. Did anyone else end up going? We went and as we got there they announced Leo who is an aussie shepherd running the agility course. I thought i had heard that name before so i watched beautiful Leo have his run. I recognised him from the pics on here. Well done Leopuppy, he is a beautiful dog. It was a great day ! Kodiak
I would love to go to the next AS herding day... will get in touch with the club to see if I can but also thought it worth asking here.... is the sort of day that a novice (as in no experience at all) dog and owner could get something from...... or should I go and watch before I put my pup in? I would like to see if our AS has an aptitude since we will have sheep as soon as we get the fencing done.... as a bare minimum I'd like her to be able to be called off sheep if she decides to chase them and a big bonus would be if she has aptitude - then I'd love to take it further. LOL - thanks Jesomil - He Lurves his agility - I wish I realised the tunnel was crooked the first time though as it put him off going in the second time . I was pleased that he actually did the course as opposed to running off and taking everyone elses sausages I had a good time too - as did Leo . Oooh and yes, I think he is beautiful too! Did you watch the Kelpies herding??? The next AS herding day is on the 22/4 I think - which I can't go to. Kodiak - just ring up and join in, it is designed for complete newbies (which I am!) so you will be quite safe. Either Glenn or Kate will be there to talk you through (isn't Glenn your pup's breeder? You'll be fine ). JulesP - you will be fine too - just go along and have some fun! Sheepies are great
whatevah
They have a section for complete beginners and experienced triallers. You will find heaps of people at your level. Me and Tia are definately newbies too.
Kodiak
Thanks for the replies.... I will attempt to get there. leopuppy04 Yep Glenn is our pups breeder - good to know he'll be helping us through it! Shame you won't be there - it seems that whatever you can get to with the club, I can't and vice versa! Our pup is going in to be spayed on Wednesday - am hoping that will be plenty of recovery time...
