MrsD
A dog can only participate in an endurance trial if it is between two and 8 years. Have started training my border collie up for it, and hopefully will be doing a trial this year and then my toller will be next year. Thanx Powderpuff, Ebony will be fine (she's 3), but Jarrah will have to be next year then. MrD was going to start his own thread ( ) asking about endurance & people's experiences etc, so watch out for it .

I'm pretty sure Rocky was the youngest Boxer EVER to get his ET title, when he was 2yrs, 1 month, and 1day old. Just replied to MrD's post -WithEverythingIAm Edited January 10, 2007 by witheverythingiam
witheverythingiam
Oh and Rocky was also the first dog ever in Bundaberg (where we were living at the time) to get his ET title also. How sad is that? I mean Laidley's only like 5hr drive from Bundy. -WithEverythingIAm
Pink Panther
Is there anything non-physical, as in not agility or flyball, something that does not involve too much running and jumping? This is because Stella has had 3 cruciate operations, and her leg is not very strong. Tracking aounds great, but are there any competitions around here? PP, there are plenty of tracking trials around, the CCCQ publich a booklet of proposed show dates for confirmation, obedience tracking etc which you can view HERE whichs tells you when they are all on. At a quick glance I can see a SS on 18th Feb, trial on 24/25th March, trial on 15th April, another SS on 29th April etc. So as you can see there are a few around. The 2 main clubs in the SEQld area are Evergreen Tracking Club Contact- Mrs D Lamprecht 52 McCormack Road South Kurwongbah 4503 (07) 3886 6452 & All Breed Tracking Club Contact - Ms Deb Sunners 24 Cremin St Upper Mt Gravatt 4122 (07) 3349 2233 I saw that you mentioned you were interested in freestyle, so am I , you arent too far from me, we should meet up one day & brainstorm . Pink Panther
thanx so much, mrs D, you're a very helpful person. Freestyle's awesome, we should do some demos and get more people into it. Its like obedience, only the dogs actually enjoy it! =]

My dogs enjoy obedience as well, so I have the best of both worlds but I would absolutely LOVE to do a demo etc, I went to a Mary Ray seminar back in October down the Gold Coast & there were a few people there from Brisbane, so there are SOME people out there who are interested, it's just a matter of getting more . I will send you a PM .
Belijae
Could someone enlighten me as to what freestyle is? I am interested in EVERYTHING that I might do with my potential puppy. I assume that there isn't a club for it where I can learn from (assumption made based on last two posts), or is there?

Canine freestyle aka heelwork to music aka doggy dancing is using a combination of heelwork & dog tricks set to music, if you want to see the best, look at the videos in these links Mary Ray Richard Curtis - make sure you check out Thriller, it's one of my favourites & the one that got me interested in it . Carolyn Scott - another excellent one Happy watching . Edited to add, there is a thread in the video section on the forum HERE with other videos to watch as well . Pink Panther
Bel, no there is no club in Qld, although there is one in Melb & one in Sydney Why is Queensland so slow and stupid! I think It's one of the most fun activities you can do with your dog. Carolyn and Rookie's Grease performance was such an amazing one.. wow, I have loved it for such a long time. I wanna now what her method is! But there's got to be some people out there who want to get together and form some sort of organisation for canine freestyle in OZ.... Where are you?? That would be so awesome, just like the Canine Freestyle Federation, and others alike, based in USA and UK. I think one day it could become as big as agility, and have one nation-wide governing body, like ADAA. I hope.
Belijae
That is fantastic! The dogs look like they're having the time of their life! Gee, where do you start teaching your dog/learning yourself that kind of stuff? Looks like doing obedience work would sure help out with hand signals... do you guys just have a bop sometimes and see what you dog does, how they interact with you? I guess some dogs would kind of follow your lead and others would need much more structured training... wow, I don't know if there is enough time in the world to do all the things I would like to try out between freestyle, obedience, agility, flyball, frisbee, lure coursing, endurance... I have no doubt the list will increase from here. Maybe you could post on here or a new thread if you work something out with freestyle is Bris, I'd love to learn more or see some in real life - shame I just heard about the Mary Ray seminar last year, oh well, next time!
