CavsRcute
Just wondering whether anyone would know if there are any clubs etc who run Rally O classes. Preferably on the north side of Sydney.
helen
Not sure of what direction from the city this is, but I believe this club does rally-o under the name of trains - http://users.bigpond.net.au/bankstownsfd/
CavsRcute
Thanks Helen. Even though they are a fair distance away, I was interested in going and contacted them. But they have the age old problem of not enough instructors. They will be reviewing it in February.
helen
bummer, hopefully you will get in soon. Sounds like great fun. Hopefully now that the American Kennel Club offer trials and titles it will only be a matter of time before it becomes an official sport in Australia too. CavsRcute
Maybe I should approach a couple of clubs with the idea. But many of the clubs around here are only interested in those who want to trial. At the last class we went to they spent 45 mins heeling and doing turns. I was bored and the 4 legged one wanted to go and chase the ducks. This was a beginner class and the instructor didn't like you to use food...that didn't work for us as I have a Cavalier and she would sell her mother for treats ;) Cheers
Staff'n'Toller
As Helen says, we are probably just a few years behind in terms of Rally competition. I am spending some time with a Delta club here in Melbourne and they are keen to get it started and perhaps run some trials next year, so it's a shame you are in NSW. ;) In terms of clubs what suburbs are you close to or happy to travel to for training? I'm sure that you can find a more enjoyable club to train at and once you have a good standard of obedience then rally would be fairly easy. Mel. J...
Can I ask a silly question please ;) I've heard the term Rally-O mentioned on here several times, what actually is it referring to? ;)
Staff'n'Toller
Rally O ;)
CavsRcute
Thanks for that website info, Staff'n'Toller. I wish we had something like that here. I might print it out and send to a few clubs although I don't like my chances. I live on the North Shore in Sydney and have tried 3 clubs. I really liked PPP but timing was a bit difficult
J...
Thanks Staff'n'Toller - sounds like much more fun than ordinary obedience, specially for young dogs ;)
CavsRcute
Thought I would ressurect this topic . pawsaroundoz
I just love the sound of rally O - much more fun than formal obedience for the non traditional obedience breeds I should think, Clancy gets bored with trad stuff but I think he would enjoy rally o. annie and her boyz
CavsRcute
Lani and I also get REALLY bored in "normal" obedience,so I was hoping for something that was fun and a bit of a challenge. If you go on to the US websites for Rally O, it looks as though it would be great. Oh well, I'll keep looking. Cheers
