bummer, hopefully you will get in soon. Sounds like great fun. Hopefully now that the American Kennel Club offer trials and titles it will only be a matter of time before it becomes an official sport in Australia too.

Maybe I should approach a couple of clubs with the idea. But many of the clubs around here are only interested in those who want to trial. At the last class we went to they spent 45 mins heeling and doing turns. I was bored and the 4 legged one wanted to go and chase the ducks. This was a beginner class and the instructor didn't like you to use food...that didn't work for us as I have a Cavalier and she would sell her mother for treats ;)

As Helen says, we are probably just a few years behind in terms of Rally competition. I am spending some time with a Delta club here in Melbourne and they are keen to get it started and perhaps run some trials next year, so it's a shame you are in NSW. ;)

In terms of clubs what suburbs are you close to or happy to travel to for training? I'm sure that you can find a more enjoyable club to train at and once you have a good standard of obedience then rally would be fairly easy.

Thanks for that website info, Staff'n'Toller. I wish we had something like that here. I might print it out and send to a few clubs although I don't like my chances. I live on the North Shore in Sydney and have tried 3 clubs. I really liked PPP but timing was a bit difficult

  • 1 year later...

Lani and I also get REALLY bored in "normal" obedience,so I was hoping for something that was fun and a bit of a challenge. If you go on to the US websites for Rally O, it looks as though it would be great. Oh well, I'll keep looking.

Cheers
