AussieDog
I am completely confused as to what wormers i have been giving my puppies. Originally i got two "worming" tablets from the VET at the same time i purchased Revolution. I was told i needed to re-worm in three months. When i took my second puppy to the vet i again brought Revolution and the Vet gave my little one a worming tablet but said it needed to be done monthly, but gave the older dog a tablet that would last three months. I then got free samples of Frontline Plus and Heartgard. As i did not use Revolution on the younger one i gave her the Frontline and the Heartgard, but then out of utter confusion i gave the older puppy the Heartgard. I was just looking on a dog website and found Revolution under "Heartworm Control". So is Revolution a flea treatment AND Heartworm treatment in the one paste/tube? And if so, in theory should i then ALSO be worming both dogs for intestional worms? Help...anyone....please.........
kamuzz
We use Sentinel for flea and worm control, including heartworm. It is one tablet per month for everything and that helps makes things simple. sorry can't help with your question - could you ring the vet? Toohey
Revolution doesn't do intestinal worms, or maybe it's just tapeworm it doesn't do, not sure. I know you have to give some sort of wormer in conjunction with it. I use Sentinel Spectrum. It covers everything in a monthly tablet.
Georgie-boy
For dogs Revolution only does Heartworm and fleas - hence the reason you would also need to gut worm with a product like Drontal or similar. Puppies should be wormed fortnightly until 16 weeks old then monthly until 6 months old and then every 3 months for life as adults. Personally I don't like Revolution for dogs as I find it expensive and it doesn't "do" a lot for that expense. Using Frontline and Heartguard monthly will be fine - the other tablet your vet probably gave you was a tapewormer as Heartguard doesn't do tapeworm. Give your vets a call - the nurses will be able to explain everything to you so you are less confused.
