Chewing And Nipping

Diesel has started chewing my arm (quite hard and breaking skin) and nipping at my legs when I walk around the house. I am wondering why he is doing this? I know he is at the age to start teething (4 months), but he has HEAPS of toys. I have visitors from overseas staying with me and he is nipping them as well. Is this just an attention thing that will stop? I have tried telling him off, but think that may just be attention for him. I have also tried ignoring him (just keeps biting, and it HURTS so can't ignore for long and visitors are getting very annoyed) and have tried a water squirter, but he now just drinks it!

Help! What else can I do?

you could try growling at him. Everytime he bites or nip growl very loudly keep doing this and he will soon stop ( hopefully) . You see this when puppies play if one gets a bit rough they will growl.

We have an 8 month old GSD girl who still does this, but has improved a great deal from when she was younger and is slowly getting better. Not only did she nip around the legs and arms but also jumped up like a kangaroo and grabbed whatever part of you that she could. Basically all we did was growl at her when she nipped, then ignored and then gave her heaps of attention when she had four feet on the ground and her teeth under control.

We did the same with Sam, it has taken her a month or a bit more to get out of it but with patience it will happen, just remember to growl or put the dog outside so they know they did something wrong.

Sam was at the point of grabbing clothes and putting holes in them, ones that people had on them LOL Everything is fine now, no issues at all.
