The vet referred Lucas to Chris Preston who works out of his Mt Waverly practice, here in Melbourne.

Chris' business card says "Specialist Small Animal Surgeon".

If there is anyone one else you can recommend I would be very happy to book a consultation with them for a second opinion.

Hi Mossie,

Sorry I didn't get back to you last night but I just started a new job on Wednesday working from home and I've been really busy. I understand Sammy's owner rang you and hopefully Alison gave you a call as well. I also spoke with our vet who did Sammy's surgery and she said that Chris Preston is a very good vet and who she often refers local people to when their dogs need this type of surgery.

I'm so sorry, for both you and Lucas, that he has hip dysplasia as well. I know you knew that it was a possibility when you adopted him but we all hoped for him, and his brother Ibrah, that Sammy was just the odd man out.

If only the vet who vaccinated the pups could find the details of the woman who bred them then we could at least make sure she knows - not sure if it will stop her as there was a Pharoah Hound mix pup in Albury Pound a couple of months ago - but I can at least ensure she knows.

I will try to call you over the weekend but I have to work again this weekend.

Sorry to be a sticky beak Trisven13 - but was Lucas xrayed before being rehomed or not?

No he wasn't - funds were insufficient to allow it sadly. A decision was made by Lucas' foster carer that she would keep him herself unless a great home came along - Mossie did and, whilst I didn't do the rehome and don't know the full circumstances - she was fully informed of Sammy's problems and the possibility that Lucas might.
