Griffo
oh thanks everyone. it means a lot. Steve is being way too modest in my opinion. The thing is, if i didn't have absolute trust and faith in what he was saying, there is no way i would have followed thru. Ellie and I were never set up to fail as steve was always very honest and forward with what she could and could not cope with. In the beginning, there were times when i didn't follow the program 100% or i had changed a bit here and a bit there...i quickly learned not to do this...i also quickly learned that the difference between success and failure is often in the small details. When i realised that, Ellie progressed much faster. The relationship between Ellie and I has changed dramatically. I was only thinking to myself last night that i finally have the dog i always wanted. She is obedient, she is affectionate and she is sociable. I was laying down with her last night and she chose to come and lay beside me for a cuddle. For many, this might not seem like much, but not that long ago if i even sat down near her, she would get up and move straight away. There is no way i could have cuddled her before. This is the change that i love the most....she finally trusts me!! here is a photo at steve's house...i'm sure you can see how happy i am lol Edited December 13, 2006 by Rachelle

I remember you telling me that you couldn't hug your dog and she would never approach you for affection. My Dobe kept snuggling you. Didn't you also ask Steve if he was married at the end? :p It's brilliant how far you've come in just over 6 months. Well done. ;) You should be very proud of yourself........and Ellie of corse. blissirritated
For many, this might not seem like much, but not that long ago if i even sat down near her, she would get up and move straight away. There is no way i could have cuddled her before That is EXACTLY what Gypsy was like when we got her! We've gotten past that now, she can relax again, is friendly, happy now -- but we haven't gotten past the 'evil dog aggression' part yet, in short, what I'm trying to say is that I do *get* how big an achievement it is and I'm just quietly thrilled that somebody else has gotten over it, so to speak -- because it means that we can too!
