manx
Bought a bag of UNCLE ALBER'S which is manufactured by the same company that makes BARKO, 22 kilos for $21.25 and my dogs love it. I have 2 fussy Greyhound pups and they have not turned their nose up at this kibble like they normally do. CEPA in Bendigo, Victoria stock it. CEPA in Bendigo, Victoria stock it. I found Uncle Albers at the Lysterfield Produce store on Saturday - 22 kg cost $25 and my dogs just about jumped through a hoop to get it. They are chow hounds but this is the most excitable response I've had to any dry food ever. I wonder if that is a good or bad sign Still looking at the ingredients it seems to be pretty good particularly as far as the cheaper foods are concerned. rugerfly
good news curlyking. Give it a chance, Ie, at least a few months to monitor its progress with your dogs condition. Poos, coat, breath, general well being. If you find a good thing, dont change
ellz
Agree 100% Rugerfly! And yes, whilst there are cheap foods and then there are CHEAP foods, what it comes down to in the end is what the dog does best on and will actually eat. My parents' dogs have what I personally class as an horrific diet but all three are happy and healthy with no itchies or scratchies, wind problems or any of the other problems that we would normally associate with the largely "junk food" diet that they consume. Yet they don't do well on what I feed. Who am I to argue with them?
Jibba
I have done a search on the net for great barko dog food and cant find a link to the manufacturer, does anyone know if they have a website to find out distributers?
ellz
Try looking for a website for Laucke Mills in South Australia perhaps? I don't think they do have a website though. You can ring the manufacturer direct, they may be able to help you. I've given the number a couple of times previously.

By today's standards terrible but gee whizz they survied and in fact most thrived til old age. I think we readily forget the advent of dry and commercial pet food is still relatively new in the greater scheme of things.
