Random (?) Little Whines

My samoyed puppy is well-fed, watered, played with frequently and exceptionally well-behaved (so far, knock-on-wood lol). He's being well socialised and has adapted well to his new home after one month.

Normally when he wants to go outside, or come inside, he lets out a little whine.

He also has a little "random" whine for reasons that escape me. Is this normal for puppies? Its frustrating because I cannot read why he is whining since he doesn't need to toilet or drink water or anything else I can see. He can be laying down or sitting and just whine for no apparent reason.

Is this normal for 12 week old puppies or an indication of some problem?

Sam does the same only when she cant decide what to do or is looking for somewhere to hide her pigs ear

Mine used to do that just as a 'look at me and fuss over me' type of thing  They also used to do it when tired- especially Ziggy. When he was just a baby I always used to pop him in his crate for a nap when he whined like that. Sort of like a kid whinging and fighting sleep

Yep I'm starting to suspect it may be tiredness related.

My Toller does it (now 21mths) is the first of my dogs to ever do this sort of thing, for no apparent reason.

Used to whine himself to sleep alot, and sometimes just whinges to himself. Not sure why, but he is just more vocal than my other guys.

He also grunts when going to sleep...seems to have quite a vocal range.

Went to visit my puppy today (she's 8 weeks on Tuesday). She was whining just a little bit. I thought it was because her littermates were outside, but she was still playing happily with us and wagging her tail. Breeder was on the phone at the time, but when she was finished, Bella started doing it again. Breeder said she wanted to go outside to toilet, so out we went, and go she did (lesson #1). Once inside again, she started doing it again. Breeder said it was her naptime, and she fell asleep in my arms, then when I put her down, she fell asleep at my feet. Even when we went to leave, she just opened one eye, wagged her tail a bit as if to say bye, then went back to sleep (valuable lesson #2).

I'd say tiredness (just in case you couldn't guess)

Cheers,

Tessa

Ok here's a slightly different scenario....

What about when you have a litter of say... oh maybe 8 puppies who are 3 weeks and 4 days old and they ALWAYS whine. Not just the sooky little cute 'lets talk to each other and vocalise' but the really loud, shreeking whining that sounds that they are being hurt. :S

Before being offered food, after food, whilst walking around... they ALWAYS whine really really loudly whilst exploring and sometimes when on their bed looking around and it's becoming a problem with my neighbours. Mum just ignores them and goes on her merry way...

What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions?

I've had litters of puppies before and they never made THIS much noise.
