oreo
Our Border collie cross saffy has developed a red eye and it wezes a little..he can open it ok but not all they way. Is this a comon problem and will it fix itself or should we treat it personally or take him to the vet.???
shoemonster
I would take him to the vet Better to be safe than risk his eye
Tilly
He could have scratched the eye - they can do a stain test to see if there is any damage. They will probably give you some antibiotic cream or drops. It can be painful and lead to further damage to the eye if not treated. Definately see the vet. Muttaburra
Yep, that would be one for the vet. It sounds like some damage has been done. If it were just a bit of weeping and the eye was clear and wide open the wiping (one cotton ball per wipe) with saline solution can sometimes clear it up. Your dog sounds like it is a bit more than that, and hopefully should be successfully and relatively easily treated by the vet, who can decide exactly what the problem is.
