Someone actually said to me that it looks like she is on heat but she can't be at 10 weeks can she??? Should I take her to the vet??

Teebs
if you are worried about ANYTHING, take the dogto the vet! It is better to be safe then sorry!! ETA: you got the dog from a pet shop, didnt you? Are you sure of her age? Edited October 12, 2006 by Terrorbull
TessaBella
TB are you thinking she may be older? or younger?? because you'd be able to ttell if she was closer to 6 months wouldn't you? ETA: Take her to the vet ASAP!!! it's so important! Edited October 12, 2006 by TessaBella
kazzakanary
No from a breeder - could be a BYB - but I think she breeds other dogs as well. I have lost her phone no!!! There is dry blood on the little mound between her legs (not anus!!) Sorry I have no other way to describe it! no way she is 6 months - too tiny Edited October 12, 2006 by kazzakanary
Livi
Is it from where she wee's from or her vagina ??

Im not saying anything - just sometimes pet shops will advertise dogs as a different age, so they can sell them. i havent seen the dog, so i dont know how old it is (and prob couldnt tell anyway!) TessaBella
If it's from where she wees it could be a blockage...my male cat gets them fairly often. We think he eats the crystal kitty litter... ETA: by blockage I mean a urinary tract infection. Edited October 12, 2006 by TessaBella

Teebs
Sometimes, some times earlier or later I got kaos desexed at 4.5 months, because her mother went in when she was 5 months old. I am not a breeder, and have never had a bitch that was not desexed, soall i can say is take her to vet Edited October 12, 2006 by Terrorbull
kazzakanary
I just rang the after hours vet and she said it is not an emergency as it has been like that since we got her - it just looks like more dried blood at the moment. It is from where she wees from I am pretty sure! ? Here is a pic... Edited October 12, 2006 by kazzakanary
TessaBella
Looks like a blockage to me...can be quite painful for the pup... She will probably need a catheter, if they do that for females?
Teebs
OMG Vets!! She should have been the first time you saw this!!
TessaBella
I agree! She should have said something the first time you had her checked. Did you have her checked out when you first got her?? ETA: I'd insist on her being seen straight away! Livi
Ohhhh poor baby Hope the vet can sort it out quickly Peeing blood is so NOT normal
kazzakanary
She is not peeing blood (not that I have seen and she is peeing A LOT inside) and she does not seem to be in pain! Now I feel terrible that I have not done something but she seemed very normal. After Indy's vet bills and not taking her to the vet until her 12 week needles I thought it was ok! Please do not flame me - I am learning so much through this site!
Teebs
but.. she was bleeding?? If your girly parts looked like that, wouldnt you go and see someone?? I rushed my dog to the vets this morning, after being on DOL all night asking advice AND talking to my vet on the phone, for a cut on her foot - if her girly parts looked like that i would not have thought it normal?? If she came to you that way i would be asking the pet shop for a refund. One of the many reasons a dog should not be sold in pet shops
kazzakanary
DO YOU NOT READ?????!!!!!! She was NOT from a pet shop and I did not realise it was blood!!!! I thought it was normal to be dark down there - I have only ever had black dogs - so this is my 1st white one. Females discharge ALL the time! Thanks a LOT for your caring reply!!
