This was what I was thinking. Has he just been vaccinated? Some dogs get HOD within days/weeks of vaccination. This is a really serious condition. A lot of vets don't know the symptoms/ don't check for it. Mention it to the vet, and have a read of this. http://www.petshealth.com/dr_library/hod.html Hope this helps.
