MonElite
Myszka, with the training in Czech Republic - was it just one trainer for the whole week? it was run by this one trainer but hey had 15 decoys and 88 dogs there. People atending are not pure novices.

Yup, understood that this would be high level training. I was really wondering about having more than one trainer who gave training in their specialist areas, like RealityBites suggested. MonElite
For the life of me I cant find the link to the website advertising the thing, but from memory they also had someone there that was doing agility. I cant imagine one guy training 88 dog for a week, had to be more. Unless he is a superman
jbbb
I was wondering how many throat lozenges the guy needed to shout across open spaces to that many people for a whole week!!
Flames_Daddy
Doing the training over there and seeing the European Dogs would have been really interesting. Does this trainer have a website Myszka?

MonElite
hahaha searching for more I got onto some clubs website (privatelly owned) in Poland and they had Angelica Guz form melbourne as a guest trainer running some workshops. Not that I know the person, just funny how Poles got an Aussie to go over. I should really change my occupation and organise these sort of things for people around the world

KitKat
If it was held in QLD i'd probably go...lol...i'm already planning on what i have to do to make next years camp tailwaggers seminar ETA - why should it be held in QLD? snippit from the info they sent me... Camp Tailwaggers i Australia's first purpose-built holiday, training and converence centre ofr dogs. Set on 77 acres with magnificient ocean and valley views the property is already the home of the popular Coolangatta Pet Motel. Came Tailwaggers will offer self-contained brick touristcabins each with their own bathroom, kitchen, living area and front varanda where you can sit and enjoy the breathtaking panorama. Dogs are welcome inside the cabins and on, in or under the beds! The carport has a doggy door leading inside. Just behind the cabins are a fenced dam for swimming and an enclosed exercise yard for your dog. The property has 5kms of walking tracks through glorious rainforest and if you wish to visit the Gold Coast Theme Parks you can leave your dogs in the Pet Motel's care for the day. The conference centre has an indoor/outdoor dining area separated by huge class sliding doors. There are showers and toilets in this building along with a commercial kitchen, laundry and a dog hydrobath. Along side this building will be the indoor training centre. There will also be grassed rings for obedience and agility, and other dog activities. The cabins are available for holiday makers when camps are not on. The entire complex is available for dog clubs and other animal lovers, to book for weekend conferences or meetings. MonElite
how much are the tailwaggers seminars and how long do they go for? The ones I looked at o/s where not that expensive, including the one with the Australian guest.
KitKat
The prices range depending on what you go for...eg cabins, camping...with food...without...all week or as a day tripper etc. As well as how many people you are willing to share your cabin with...etc... Some camps are for the weekend...others can be all week etc. For the entire week one (next week) it is under $1500 for shared cabin with all meals. Lablover
Myszka, I would not be terribly interested in a Schutzhund based seminar. All the same, what about Felix Ho? He is apparently now based in Europe but wasn't he one of the most successful Schutzhund based guys while living in Australia???
KitKat
Would the head guy from Leerburg be of interest perhaps? From what i can gather he can go into obedience, SAR, Schutzhund etc etc?

From what i can gather he can go into obedience, SAR, Schutzhund etc etc? i dont fancy your chances in getting ed out but would be worth a shot you never know.. just throwing a few names around of Australian based IPO trainers. Danny Jagodic - Working Malinois breeder (he is the breeder of felix ho's dog) danny is a former military dog handler from holland he set up australias first KNPV training club. experienced in training dogs for all protection sports and detection work Dennis Gallacher - Working German Shepherd breeder former military dog handler from the UK responsible for setting up Schutzhund in Australia responsible for bringing the best working line shepherds to Australia if you would like for an IPO trainer from outside of aus tho i would be able to help you out ETA: what do you want the seminar to cover? jbbb
I was sort of thinking of training cover some (maybe not all) of the following: obedience agility tracking (SAR?) detection herding ???? not necessarily limited to IPO as such.... what are others thoughts on this? Obviously an IPO trainer would be great for a lot of topics, but the amount of people interested may be limited if the topics were limited to IPO? Maybe we should work out who the training is aimed at? Also, would there be some sort of limit on the previous training of the dogs? Obviously a dog who has done a CDX is going to be slowed down by a dog that has not done any training at all. And if a dog doesnt have titles at all, how do you determine whether or not it can attend? (it might be well trained, but not have actually done any competing). Sorry... just thinking out loud really.
MonElite
:D ;) OMG - I throw an idea up in the air and people are choosing trainers to invite already and from O/s on top of that, dont we have enough here that would be willing to spend a week training and talking dogs only with a bunch of likeminded people? How about finding some accomodation first The way I thought about it was that IPO trainers and people like K9 cover a wide range of potential disciplines obiedince tracking protection for those who are interested drive work that can be applied to all areas of dog training level of work is usually of a high standard. Perhaps before we all jump on the bandwagon of yeah lets do it we should find out if there would be enough quorum to even consider such thing. And calculate what the cost would be etc. But I have to say Im impressed with the responce rate

Kavik
This sounds like a great idea When I did the scent detection course, Gary Jackson was one of the lecturers and I was impressed with his work - does drive work too. You do have to be prepared to probably tape it and watch it again though - he talks a million miles an hour :D But his enthusiasm and energy was great! He does scent detection, protection, tracking http://www.mnk9.com.au/
