Would be interested in the Sydney one, but would be more excited if she came to Melbourne!!!!!

Watch this space... Am told there are now seminars being organised in both Melbourne and Sydney.

Brisbane has 60 registrations already!

Yes Melbourne is confirmed - YAY i am going !!!

It will be on November 6 & 7 (Melbourne Cup  )

Not being advertised - Jane Anderson from Bluegrace Portugese Waterdogs has organised it. I came across the site whilst looking for BARF diet info (luckily). There are two places left apparently as Jan like to keep her classes small.

Info at www.bluegrace.com

Cheers

If anyone is going to Jan's Seminar, and there is a questiontime (which there usually is) can someone please ask her how to redeem your dog from depression after you have asserted yourself as the Alpha of the household ??

I have read her books and thought her methods were very good, but several friends of mine have been to many seminars of hers and after following the instructions to the letter, have found that their dogs, although exceptionally well behaved, seem depressed and have lost any will to be excitable. Just wondered if this was something she was aware of and what to do about it really.

I've not experienced it myself, but it's apparently quiet common.

Could someone please ask her if possible

K9: Well Im not a whisperer but if I can comment, the reaction seen in many dogs when they have lost their leadership position, is usually created one of two ways...

1. The leadership was taken by force.

2. The leadership was taken via something like the nilif program & it hasnt been made clear to the dog that it can still have what it wants, it just has to work for it.. The dogs see's itself in isolation & behaves like an isolated pack member, quiet & subdued...

There are some dogs (will not mention what state what breed and who they belong to) that do extremly well in the ob ring, but noone has ever seen them wag a tail.

I have seen this myself a little too often myself, except i wouldn't leave it to one breed. I work towards highly animated performances and will sacrifice accuracy to do so. I reckon we won't have our sport for a lot longer if these sad sack performances continue to get marked as they do. if one reads the rules, the space to mark these performances down is already there.

ooooh yeah...but how often do you see it utilized? Have only ever seen one dog marked down for poor demeanour (sp?) in the ring. Should be more of it.
