Dogs Perfume..

Do any of you use dog perfumes on your doggies?

I used to buy a bottle of doggie perfume from PP but it is very expensive for such a small bottle. I'm wondering if any of you use any other type to make your dogs smell nicer.. lol..

My dogs aren't that smelly but they do go doggy smell just after 2 days I bathed them.. and my house would smell all doggy..

Any tips?

I usually give them baby powder or dog wipes once in a while, especially after a long run where they get sweaty or dirty paws. Never know if there is any doggie parfume. Do they smell really good? How long the smell lasts?

Jonty has his own distinctive scent - I think its called Eu De Puppy Poo-fume :) :):rofl:

I'm with MrsD, Eau de Puppy and Eau de Dog for me. Love it

Ahhhh BP, but is it like Jonty's special scent, Puppy Poo-fume? Gotta say Eu De Puppy is fine, but the other one makes my eyes water at times ;) .

You can get them at any pet stores, really, but I'm just curious what brands others are using, and because it is quite expensive (well, for me it is), I also wonder how many people are actually using it.

It does make the dogs smell real good, lol. You would always want to hug them forever. Last about a day or 1.5 day the most once you sprayed on the dogs.

Good investment I think. :)

I missed the vital word - that does make your eyes water

I use a spray on mine when i brush him. It makes the coat easier to brush, deodorises and, in my opinion, conditions the coat.

It's by 'dog & Co', called 'FiFi Fresh Spray', and you can get a 250mL bottle for around $15 I think, and it'll last you ages.

Just reading the ingredients, it's got heaps of essential oils like lavender, peppermint and lemongrass.

Hope that helped. :)

If you can get the Crazy Dog brand over there, they do a shampoo and matching conditioning spray called baby dog which smells of baby powder - they also produce a few other fragrances as well which are really nice.

Johnsons Velvet coat is also a nice perfume/conditioner.

I tend to believe that if your dog is healthy they shouldn't stink,

Mine are washed with Aloveen- which smells wonderful, and i sometimes use it as a leave in conditioner, and his big coat always smells wonderful,

they never stink unless they decide to go and roll in something disgusting- and they are bathed immediately after.

my dogs do not stink nor do they smell horrid, they just smell doggy after a few days, which resulted in my house smelling doggy, from their walks and play-time. Their coat are perfectly fine, ears clean and teeth healthy.

Thanks everyone for your tips on the dog perfumes, I'm actually currently using 'One with Nature: Rost Mist', and it smelled really wonderful and sweet on my dogs..

Will try the other brands when my little bottle runs out of its magic pink liquid! :)

I found this stuff called Dog Polish. Its bees/carnuba wax with some essential oils. You brush it into the coat after a bath and keeps the coat shiny and nicely smelling for ages! Worked well on my mastiff because he's a stinky boy :) plus the coat doesnt seem to pick up as much dirt if you brush it in really well. Its about $6 for a little container.

That or I think you can make your own, i'm looking around for a recipe

Jim doesn't smell, but he does have a range of fragrances - they are out at a friends house who has a smelly pug pup :)

What I find makes the scent last longer is to spray deep between the coat on the skin at the neck, middle of the body and base of the tail - they he gets and all over squirt. I washed him last weekend and he still smells of his millenium cologne

Our Elkhounds don't get a doggy odour at all and are only washed occasionally. They were last washed at the beginning of April and don't smell. Our Afghan does smell if we don't wash him every week. They are all on good diets and are perfectly healthy. I like Plush Puppy Odour Muncher and use it when the Afghan starts to smell and I don't have time to bath him.

I wash my dogs in Aloveen and use the conditioner afterwards. They smell wonderful but after a while (once they've been outside running around) they do start getting their own distinctive doggy perfume :) (it's just the Orson smell and the Oi Oi smell :))

:cool: :rofl::rofl:

But honestly they dont smell bad like poo or anything.

Play with poop :) actually my youngest did that as a pup but they grow out of it.

Just remembered (brain cells can be a little slow) make your own up. Ask the pharmacist for bay rum, it is what is in men's colognes. They generally have it in bulk but can put it into a smaller bottle for you. Then dilute in a spray bottle with a little water. Nice fresh smell and cheaper than prepared colognes.
