bridgie_cat
Is straight course like what the greyhounds run on?... with the rabbit? I have seen what i think was lure coursing on TV with a little lure on the ground that got dragged over like a zig-sag track in a field... is this right? I dont live in melb but i would love to know more about it for my aunties whippet (do they do lure coursing with whippets?) Thanks Bridget
whatevah
I would love to go, I think they were at the Pet & Pony Event at Rosebud once, they loved watching Josh do it and gave us a big bag of dog food. LOL

Be a good excuse to bring the baby girl Zahra out and have some socialisation and she will be fully vaccinated and past the two week period as well so will be more than ready to get out and about :D
whatevah
Who wants to race my two boys? This could be a fun day, maybe we should move it to social events.

Sayreovi
Is that a Sunday? I want to come to give the dogs another go but if its a Sunday it will have to depend on the time.
Kirislin
Well I certainly know about this track cause I live just around the corner from it. It is a greyhound racing track so it's got the 'bunny' on the rail. The track is 340m long with an incline so it's hard work for them. Some greyhound trainers say it's equivalent to about 360 because of the hill. This coming Sunday is the whippet fun day. Looks like I might go 2 weeks in a row. I'll most likely have a tiny blue whippet who will be going crazy at the lure. Say hello if you see me. Linda
whatevah
Can other breeds go to the whippet fun day and have a go at the track?
zero
I would love to come with my 2, is it ok if they are not experienced? Mallee had a go at Nillumbik Pet Expo, they had a lure course circuit, it was sooooo funny. Tank has never tried, but he would have to go on his own. I'm thinking it will be a really fun day though, so count us in!!!
Purple Julie
Count me in for numbers. I will try to get there. It's local to me in comparison to KCC park! I am moving house that weekend, and am out all day Saturday at college, but I think I'll be moving on the Friday mainly anyway. I am so busy with assignments and they are the priority over everything at the moment, but when it comes to Jyra going lure coursing, suddenly that becomes the priority!! Jeff, how come you hear about these things? Is the area where the dogs run fenced? Edited May 16, 2006 by Purple Julie
Kirislin
Can other breeds go to the whippet fun day and have a go at the track? I am not sure, your best bet would be to contact the secretary Rae on 9725 0486. Note I am not giving private details as this phone number is on the whippet web site. Rebanne
I have to pull out of the lure coursing on the 28th Molly went to the vet yesterday to get a couple of teeth removed and ended up having 11 taken out so I won't risk running her and it's a bit far to come just for Piper. Hope you all enjoy the day. I will get down one day!
Scout'nAbout
I would love to go with Scout. It's a while til the next lure coursing day at KCC park and she needs a good run. Will be interesting to see how she does with a straight course...she may just be able to keep track of this one
whatevah
I may not be able to go as I have a double booking, I am helping with a clicker quest at Lilydale, may be able to squeeze in a go, not sure as I also have agility at Croydon that starts at 9.30am. The whippet lure coursing is only for whippets, I rang and asked.
PossumCorner
I may not be able to go as I have a double booking, ..... Try to make it, sounds like a good day. We will take one or three dogs for their first straight-line run, I'm sure they already know something special is on. Also we'll be taking photos, should get one of all of the dogs running. I would love to have some really good clear shots of my girls running. How will I know you if you go? Linda
