Walking On A Lead

Recommended Posts

K9: he may well be, its not that he knows where the Alpha is in a strange house, he just knows it isnt him. He will have more confidence at home & on the leash, these are areas that he obviously has control...

We will sort this fast.

I didnt think of it that way.... that could just be it - that he doesnt know who's in charge when it's a new place...

anyways time to take Harley out now - let's hope he stays attached to his lead!!!

oh, i wish i knew about the vic workshop!

it's all sold out! LOL

IS there some sort of email list where I can put myself on so I can be informed of future workshops, etc?

Would love to hear what Steve can do for me and Ned!

thought I'd give everyone an update on last nights events...

My husband has been taking Harley out for his evening walks ... he still pulls like crazy

Yesterday he dragged my husband half way onto the road (he was trying to get to the cat on the other side) . Thankfully there were not many cars on the road at the time. After that my husband turned back and started heading for home and then pulled my husband into someone else's garden to see if he could play with the dog in that yard.

My husband cam eback absolutely fuming  - Harley knew we were upset with him and he went to the back door and sooked because we would not talk to him.

I dont think we can do this anymore.... :( we've decided to stop walking him till we get Steve to work his magic on him!

K9:

Best to stop walking him then, yes that will make him more exciteable at the workshop but thats better that adding stress to any commands we will use in the future...

Tell your husband to rest assured, he will walk on a loose leash...

We're not walking him anymore cause we're more afraid of him or us getting hurt in the process - I think we were just very lucky that there were no cars on the road when he decided to run across it!!

I know things will work out once you see him Steve - I cant wait...

:rofl::rofl::rofl::(:):rofl: ;) :eek:

Gillian.....I promise you pooch will be walking on a loose lead and you will be able to safely walk and have his attention

I know it's stressful with a pushy giant breed, don't stress about not walking him for now, he'll be fine

  • 4 weeks later...

ok for all those interested in how Harley and me went at the K9 Force workshop on Friday....

Steve worked with Harley for a few minutes..

first worked him on a check chain and he was alright but probably not the best...

then Steve put him on a prong collar and I cant even beigin to tell you how wonderfully Harley walked on it.

only problem now is that prong collars are illegal in Victoria... :hitself:

Cheers

Gillian

Hi Gillian,i'm glad it worked for you with Steve, can i say"I told you so" o.k. no i won't.

don't know how this will work for you, but i have read a lot of the Vic people put scrunchies around the prong collar and nobody know's the difference, just think you have a fancy collar, maybe you could sew a few together :hitself: i'm sure someone will let you know from down that way but i thought it might help.
