Agility & Flyball Enthusiasts

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone....

I run Puppy Pre-School courses, and I always plug Agility and Flyball as great dog sports to get into. Everyone gets a handout on each sport and webpage and contacts for them.

Up until now I describe each sport and talk about it, but I'm not sure the people that have never seen it understand how much fun it really is.

I have just secured a TV and VCR so that I can show some short video footage of each sport, I feel that will really get people motivated. :)

So, would anyone be so kind to lend me some footage that they have of either sport? I would be sooooo appreciative. :)

Also, if anyone has anything from the 'Great Outdoor Games' (ESPN) where they do the novelty Agility races, just jumpers or weavers that would be fantastic!

I'm happy to pay postage, or send up videos/dvd's for copying, and return postage.

Cheers,

Mel. :)

There's a really good DVD that was done as a promotional thing for Flyball. it was all filmed at last year's Canberra Royal competition and shows all clubs and dogs of all sizes and shows how the people come from all walks of life. Very professionally done and it gives some good info on Flyball. Its from Penny Productions and Penny Hehir is the contact person. It only costs about $15 from memory. Excellent DVD. If you are interested I have her contact details at home, let me know. She made another one of the Kioloa competition the year before last. Also good.

Hey Mel,

My footage not working asking about :shhh:. My brother has made an agility DVD if you want it. Can't remember what was on it. Else I have some of the runs (the good dogs) from the Adelaide Royal last year floating around the place.

ETA Also have a nice long collection of canine freestyle from the pet expo - not Mary Ray standard but still.

... some footage that they have of either sport? ...

There is a new (yet another) animal/pet show starting on TV tomorrow. Forget name of new show, it is on tomorrow (Saturday 1 April) 4.30pm, Channel 9.

A feature segment was filmed at the Wonthaggi Show Flyball competition. Main reason for the segment is to show the relationship between Assistance Dogs and owners, and of course Wendy is a top flyball competitor with her great assistance dog. Don't know how much of the day's racing will be on the segment, but it should explain what flyball is about and show one of the top team competitors of the Croydon Rockets in action with some training component there I believe. Good viewing for anyone interested in flyball (or assistance dogs).

Ahhh Sparty, we were there yesterday. What a day, the weather was so silly. We missed out on having a go because it ended up pouring with rain.

I am going to check out the Berwick club, as it is the closest to me that I could find.

:) lol maybe you should get a list of demo days and competitions for your preschoolers for them to go and hav a look, much more atmosphere than a video :vomit: Edited by Sparty

If in Dandenong Ranges area, Croydon Rockets could be your closest. Flyball beginners classes are at Croydon, Sunday mornings at Silcock Park. Then continuing training to join a team, and for team dogs, is Saturday mornings at Lilydale (or Wednesday evenings at Lilydale during daylight-saving). Rockets website is www.flyball.com/rockets -

Actually depending where you live in Dandy Ranges, the club at Berwick is actually located in Narre North, and is the closest to me, but I don't train there LOL. Croydon require that you do more obedience to do flyball than Berwick.
