helen
Would love to hear the results, especially how the Bellarine and Ballarat teams go. Good luck to everyone
whatevah
I went today for a couple of hours, did not compete. I love the new flyball lights fantastic!!! You can see the speed of each dog. It was great to see some cockerspaniels running. Also loved how the time of the start dog is displayed and the time the race was completed in was displayed. Can't wait to run Josh and Moses, so I will finally know how fast they actually are and which dog is faster. They are both very similar. Was interesting to watch. I watched Ballarat competing against an interstate team. Ballarat had the faster dogs with times like 4.3 seconds!!! But the other team bet them, I think due to better cross overs. Also think its great that people can records the dogs times, without annoying the time keepers. Also checked out some chocolate and white border collies from parramatta. Sayreovi
I went, got lost, then when i finally found the school, i couldnt find the entrance for the dogs.....then when i thought i found it i had to pay like $15 for entry. So i turned around and went home pretty annoyed as no one would help me either grr
shoemonster
We did the same, turned around at the $15 entry It seemed a bit rich when we were completely uninterested in the highland stuff!!! When is the next flyball comp in Vic on?
Sayreovi
I even said i didnt care about all the Scottish stuff, i was just there to see the dogs!! Looking back maybe not the best thing to say, but i was being honest......those bagpipes were scaring Nova LOL
PossumCorner
It seemed a bit rich when we were completely uninterested in the highland stuff!!! When is the next flyball comp in Vic on? That's a teeny bit unfair. I know it's a high entry fee. But it was all part of the "event" and none of us would go to an Agricultural Show to see one thing and expect to not have to pay, or pay as much. Like Wonthaggi or Euroa or the Royals. You can't just front up and say I'm only here to see the showjumping, or the handcrafts, and walk in free or part-price. The organisers went through absolute hell to make yesterday work well for everyone, because of the change of grounds that wasn't their fault. Flyball had a really terrific audience for a change because of the Highland people and their supporters coming over to watch the dogs. Would be good if the flyballers returned the favour and went to see one of the bands compete (between racing and stewarding) or the little kids putting their heart into their Highland Dancing competitions. We can't always run flyball in isolation, nobody would look at it. Our next Flyball Demonstration is at the Collingwood Childrens Farm on 19 March. Next full-on Flyball Competition is at Ballarat on 25 March. I think there is also a demo coming up at the next RSPCA open-day at Burwood, not sure of the date. shoemonster
I didn't mean to offend, but I was surprised at the price, I understand where you're coming from though, I apologise I would have thought it would be around $5 if anything, we just couldn't afford the $30 for both of us Thanks for the info on the next couple of events
Sayreovi
I agree with Shoemonster, i didnt even know that there was the Highland thing on if i had know that i would have thought twice about coming as it is an hour from my place and they werent helpful to me. Must say though, the link didnt mention anything about an entry price into the actual event to see flyball. So it was misleading, i wouldnt have minded paying $5 but not $15 to only stay for about 30 minutes Edited March 6, 2006 by tollersowned
Sparty
getting thru the gate with a harnessed dog and a entry pass at 7.30 I was given the 3rd degree!!! he looked at my pass for a good minute or two as if it was fraudulent! geeze
BoStoNmAdNeSs
Well, luckily we got some free tickets as our girls were competing...but I agree on the price. I thought it was a bit hefty all considered. Bloody hot in there too...I only lasted about 3 hours on Sunday and left to go home..!!! My wife competed with maggie, the only mini bull terrier there and they come first in divison 5....and she also competed with Ruby our Boston terrier, also the only one there and they came 2nd in Dvision 6 (I think) Good day for her and the Ballarat teams. I love the Parramatta team (Im sure its the one Im thinking of) Theres a girl in the team, quite pretty and friendly (met her at a couple of other meets)..and she has this scruffy little beautiful thing. I love watching this dog run. Cheers

shoemonster
Yeah I felt a bit bad as I told Kitty we were going to come but then we got there Sunday arvo, weren't sure if the dogs would still be going and couldn't justify the entry When we went to Berwick they wanted a similar fee and we were there at 8.30 am and the Highland thing didn't start til 10 so we sat on the other side of the oval so we weren't in the Highland section but could still see quite well It is good that the flyballers get different people watching though, people who are there for the highland stuff
Guest cloverfdch
The little scruffy dog is Pudgee from Norwest . We were there to compete for Sunday only and left exhausted, it was too hot. Poor Clover is buggered today .

2tollers
The little scruffy dog is Pudgee from Norwest . We were there to compete for Sunday only and left exhausted, it was too hot. Poor Clover is buggered today . Give Clover a big hug from me, poor thing. Somehow we managed to survive the 2 hot days. Todd did much better than I did but he's had a lot of lounge time today. Sparty's dog Bodie did a brilliant job. He didn't miss a beat. They even had a start time of .000. It was great being around all of those beautiful dogs. They did such a good job in the heat. A few of ours threw the towel in on the 2nd day but generally they all held up well. I didn't get to meet too many people unfortunately because between stewarding, timekeeping and racing it was full on. I did manage to meet perieu, and Shinji was there with his beautiful little Toller Pedro, who is growing into a very handsome young dog. He couldn't help cooling himself off in our paddle pool. He just got in and lay down. Very funny. I also spoke with Dunny Brush who wasn't running her dogs because of recent surgery. For those of you who saw her thread on weight loss she looks great, not thin at all. Our team won 1st place in Division 5 and I'm very proud of my boy. I think he only made one error all day (I made a few though). I hope someone has a couple of photos because most of us just didn't have a chance to take any. PossumCorner
getting thru the gate with a harnessed dog and a entry pass at 7.30 I was given the 3rd degree!!! he looked at my pass for a good minute or two as if it was fraudulent! geeze Yeah there had to be a communication breakdown somewhere. I don't think the AFA notice mentioned the fee either, (and it has been taken off already!!) The gatekeepers were packing death a bit even early about people crashing in, because the grounds are so tiny there compared to the usual place there was always going to be a problem for spectators. The cricket yobbos hanging round on the outside field there breaking bottles where the Highland Bands had to do their preliminary tuning and so on were a pain. I wouldn't have wanted that lot to wander in and around flyball with their broken bottle tricks. Next year we will be back at Jubilee Park, not sure if it will be the Nationals though - some other States besides Victoria will be applying to host them. But the flyball will definitely be linked in with the Highland Games event.
PossumCorner
I hope someone has a couple of photos because most of us just didn't have a chance to take any. Tried to get one of every dog running, and have most of the presentations groups. They won't be on the website til Thursday probably, that is after I recover from heat exhaustion. Shinji and Chezzy were chatting in the shade when I last saw them, sensible people. Pam (Bunjee) was shooting away for a while too.
