Kirra_Bomber_Zeus
Hi Instead of just RR I would ask your local health food shop to make a specific remedy up for you Ask them for a Bach Flower Remedy of Rescue Remedy, Aspen, Mimulus & Larch. The Rescue Remedy is great for calming but it doesnt include Aspen & Mimulus which are the remedies for fear. Larch is the remedy for confidence which seems to really help dogs who are afraid of thunderstorms as well. PM me know if you cant get the heathfood shop to make it up for you and you want the remedy - I can make it up for you Jen
Buster's Mum
Jenny, how much of each goes in the mix? My vet uses holistic therapy so I'll ask her if she will mix some for me.
Kirra_Bomber_Zeus
Jenny, how much of each goes in the mix? My vet uses holistic therapy so I'll ask her if she will mix some for me. They need to put 4 drops of RR & 2 drops each of Aspen, Mimulus & Larch (usually in an alcohol/water base) Jen
Rusky
Jenny I used that mix when we brought Rusky home from kennels one time. I used rescue remedy and then added aspen and mimulus at the suggestion of a friend. She calmed down and stopped her 'licky leg' which was disgusting. gemibabe
Loraine is the tv normally on when Zedley does this strange behaviour? Just wondering because sometimes the tv puts out a signal that we cannot hear, only dogs can hear. And its usually around the same time. the tv show 'braniac' was on the other night and they put out this signal, asked viewers to bring thier dogs in and see what they would do. Shelby just sat there, didn't even prick her ears. She was not phased by it at all. I had a cheap tv once that would make a terrible noise at the same time. Went to a techno guru site and asked why, and the explaination was so complex I didn't understand it, in lamans terms it has something to do with switching signals and that the cheap tv wasn't equipped to muffle the noise.

Sorry to sound dumb but 10 drops seems like a lot. Thanks Jen
Loraine
Thanks for all the wonderful advice. Jen I will see if I can get your special mix done in Cannington tomorrow. If not I know that I can buzz up to Dog Swamp and get some there. Gemibabe - yes I'm a TV addict  and it is usually on, even just for background noise. The odd thing about this boy is that when he arrived in September he settled right in. Only now is he showing this strange behaviour.

Kirra_Bomber_Zeus
Thanks Jen I appreciate your help. I have just started using RR on Buster who is terrified during storms so will try this mix. No problem Busters Mum Hope it works well for Buster. My Mum's dog was so terrified of storms he would literally wet himself as soon as the first bit of thunder came. He would hide under the bed shaking like a leaf for hours even after it had passed. The vet wanted to put him on valium but my Mum wouldnt do it. We made this remedy up for him and gave it to him for 2 weeks in a row, then again the next time there was a storm (dosed him 4 drops every 10 minutes for an hour as soon as it started) then by the next storm he wouldnt come inside because he was PLAYING IN THE RAIN!!! It was amazing - he is fine now and likes to stay outside with his nose in the air smelling the rain Jen
Loraine
Jenny that sounds quite a good cure for the scarey's. I am pleased to report that, although Zedley is stuck to my legs, he has no been panicing (sp) today (so far). He looked at the RR bottle so I gave him a couple of drops (he loves the stuff), I also want to be on the safe side. I will be looking at getting your remedy made up, because he is also really scared during thunder storms - and we may have some over the weekend. YOU GUYS ARE ALL GREAT, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU
