KitKat Posted December 31, 2005 Share Posted December 31, 2005 After discussions with my vet i made the decision to let my Heartdog, Harm, be PTS. This was done at midday today, he slipped away while being held within my arms. There will never be another like him, he was a lovely dog, a great alpha and a loving friend. He stood with me through a lot of things and today was probably one of the hardest things i've ever had to do. As this is the last day of the year, it is almost fitting that it be his last day also. Tomorrow will be another day, another year and Harm will not be forgotten and will be forever missed. A Pet's Prayer If it should be that I grow frail and weak And pain should keep me from my sleep Then you must do what must be done For this last battle can't be won You will be sad I understand Don't let your grief then stay your hand For this day, more than all the rest Your love and friendship stand the test We've had so many happy years what is to come can hold no fears You'd not want me to suffer, so when the time comes, please let me go. Take me where my needs they'll tend only...stay with me right to the end and hold me firm and speak to me until my eyes no longer see I know in time, you will see it is a kindness you do to me although my tail its last was waved from pain and suffering I've been saved Don't grieve. It should be you who decides this thing you do we've been so close, we two these years don't let your heart hold any tears Smile: for we walked together for a little while May he rest in the sunlight within the Mothers garden until it's my time to claim him again.
