Guest KOJAK
This was written by my OH in 1998 she called it 'LUCKY DOG of the YEAR' Jessie owned loved and trained by Bob In November 1998 another breeder of gsd phoned to ask a desperate favour.Could we look after an 11 month old female gsd for about two weeks until a home could be found for her? She was in a home where we can only assume she was unwanted, locked up,not walked, unsocialised and home alone for up to 12hours a day. We agreed to look after her for a short time.Bob picked her up from a ladywho was looking after for two weeks. Our house would would be her fourth home. At the time we had two male gsd .Talking to the breeder we asked if they had considered putting her to sleep due to her condition. The breeder said no as there was nothing wrong with her or any of her litter brothers and sisters when they were born. Hearing that ,we both decided this was the home this dog needed to be with. So a new home and new life and a new name we called her JESSIE. On arrival I loked at this pathetic little girl and thought,'No,No,No'',The fear onher face was unreal. She looked ugly, ran and hid in the bedroom and would not come out. Eventually, bob coaxed her to the end of the bedand he managed to get her on a lead. With her on lead he had control,at the time she would not drink or eat and would always hide in terror of anything. I remember the first walk on her lead just to get her out of the house was a big challenge for her.The firstbird noise[tweet tweet]clear sound, she heard paralysed her with fear..Further along we were walking under a bridge a car drove over and hit a pothole on the bridge and the loud noise also terrorised her. For the following two days she was cowering in the bedroom. As bob and myself kept encouraging her that things will be better to our great delight she came from the bedroom up to the kitchen and placed her head on bobs lap put a lump in the throat. Time, patience and understanding over a period of six months saw Jessie transform from a very frightened ,underfed and unloved animal into a vibrant, enthusiastic member of our family totally accepted by our other gsds Bob has now taught Jessie not to fear humans or dogs, he has also taught her obedience to swim retrieve and thing she excells in is tracking .She is a delightful"full on"happydog ,always willing to please. In 2000 jessie also recieved her ET title. On Christmas Eve 2001 at 11PM with bushfires that were burning at the time and the roads were cut our beautiful Jessie Got bloat [stomach torsion]We manage to get her to the vet at midnite. Her stomach was dead but we decided to operate 4am Christmas morning having her stomach taken out untwisted and out back in she was breathing okay. lunchtime Christmas day I bought her home. I am totally convinced she came home to say goodby to her other gsd mates and myself and bob. Jessie had a relapse on 27 -12 -2001 bob put her sleep. At the moment the tv is showing Carols by candelight and I just felt it appropiate to share with you guys as tears begin to form about a rescue german shepherd that touched our lives in so many ways Each day of her new life was a challenge which she managed to overcome with bonding and complete trust of us.She excelled in all she applied herself to This is special time of the year and one we will all remember forever RIP JESSIE love you Jess love my german shepherds kojak :p Photo of sonar and Jessie number 1 on left

White Shepherd mom
Kojak, I won't forgive you for making me cry on Christmas night. I once had a GSD named Jessie too and the memory of her came flooding back. There is no doubt that if there is a Rainbow Bridge, Jessie is waiting for you. It is a shame the way she went but without your love and patience she would not have had the life she deserved. Look after your loved ones, Angel Jessie.
