Ok - new thread started in this forum. "Poor quality and inappropriate equipment". Please put your posts there, as others might get the opportunity to learn by the mistakes of others.

You too, Chelsea's Mum .... yours is a good example too.

Just a quick point I would like to add. AGAIN there is a lot of, "At this age you shouldn't do this this" etc. I'm not having a crack at people for adding their opinion but what I would like to add is this; not all dogs are created equal. For a Maltese or similar, you're right, I would 99.99% of the time say don't do it however, if it was a Pittbull, Rotty etc. it may require an assesment on the dog AND the owner as to what training device is best suited.

Guest Pandii

I have beeen recommended by 2 breeders and 3 trainer to put my nearly 5 month old rottie in a check chain

Every dog is different and sometimes assesments are needed

also correct training for both dog and owner

I think meaning the generalisation that people have. Eg. NO dogs under certain ages should wear this, or that ...

I agree with HR. Too much assumption. Every breed and every individual is exactly that ... an individual, and needs to be worked with on its own merit.

Correct me if my interpretation is wrong, HR.

I like those leads in the link....

Martingale or flat collar and a 'nice comfortable' lead. Don't use a chain lead or nylon cheapo from discount store rips your hands as the lead slips through. I hate cheapo collars too and I don't just mean for training, get a nice comfortable collar they look good and last for ever.

An equipment 'pinned' thread would be good.
