Guest Tess32 Posted May 26, 2005 Share Posted May 26, 2005 Just use "close" (or sub) to mean "walk close to me" and "heel" when you do eventually teach a proper heel. As I said, some dogs "get it" quicker on the "penalty yards" method where you walk backwards if they pull instead of just stopping. A dog that is so unfocused on you might take longer to realise that mum is no longer moving and then start to undertand why.
