Sold puppy to close friend - no payment received

Hi all,

Looking for advice on this one:

1 month ago, myself and my gf purchased some puppies from a breeder interstate. After approximately a week, we decided to sell one of them to the parents of my gf’s godchild.

The price was agreed, and it was arranged that the father of the godchild would come to pickup on Christmas eve. Re payment, he said that payment would be made when he gets paid on Jan 15th.

So roll on 9pm on Christmas eve and the guy comes over. As soon as he arrived, it was clear this wasnt going to be a straight forward transaction. He started to demand I hand over all paperwork and details of the breeder etc.

I explained to him (a) Paperwork, including transfer of ownership will be done after full payment is made and (b) Just because a demand is being made for breeder details, I will need to ask them if they give consent to sharing their details to a 3rd party. The breeders are a private couple and not a professional breeder or anything similar. This was not a guarantee as part of the purchase.

We went over and back for about an hour arguing, to the point where it turned hostile. My gf was witness to this whole interaction.

Given the fact that the puppy was for her godchild, I decided the way forward was to give him the pup, and work out the other details later.

After sleeping on it, I regret my decision to hand over the beautiful pup.

I would like to ask your thoughts on how I should play it, if what I THINK will happen will occur (i.e. he will not send over payment as agreed).

Regardless you then "give him the pup"

Considering you've been conned, too late to ask for money, pretty obvious he arrived with no intention to pay.

Doesn't matter why he purchased more than one, although these days pillaring any one who might be eligible for attack seems the norm now.

Back to the Salem witch hunts of yor

The human race loves a witch-hunt

Long as it's not them facing being burnt at the stake

Bit peeved

Discovered one of the most beautiful girls I bred and let her go to top home and asked for dibs on buying a pup back.

Learnt she will never be bred from due to the fear one might end up at a puppy farm.

So end of her line rather than risk that. Seems 99 percentage of people never breed to "prevent" that.

Wonder where the expect to find a replacement when age catches up?

Clone like Barbara Streisand?

That's assuming in the future there will be any undesexed entire females capable of carrying a pup?

Think not going to happen?

PETA "expect the domestic dog and cat to be extinct within this generation "

Although may have been referring to purebreds.

Doubt the real backyarder's who never chip and largely don't vaccinate either can be stamped out.

Poor PETA
