tdierikx
Quote Marcus and Janine Wood's golden retriever Brennie and Maltese shits-zhu Millie were best buds, so when only one of them returned after playing outside their Melbourne home a few weeks ago, alarm bells sounded. The Woods claim the two dogs ran across the road, only for Brennie to return home "frothing from the mouth" and shaking. Not excusing the neighbour's behaviour, but who lets their dogs run around the neighbourhood unsupervised? What if the issue wasn't the neighbour doing something to the dogs that trespassed into his yard, but they got hit by a car or the like? Personally, I'm hoping the dogs' owners are fined for letting their dogs roam unsupervised in public, and that they learn that their own actions led to this tragic incident. If they hadn't let their dogs out to roam unsupervised, then it would never have happened, yes? T.
persephone
That is terribly sad, but yes- why were the dogs allowed to just roam across the street ?

Little Gifts
People are so weird. They claim they love their pets then let their dogs roam freely? Besides the potential of being dog napped or hit by a car, they don't know all their neighbours. There could be people with mental health issues and others who are either scared of dogs or who find them unclean (common in some cultures). It's not up to your neighbours to keep your dogs safe for you either - that's on the owners. Hard lesson learnt of course and it is always the dog who suffers the most when owners don't step up.
asal
same with the people who let their cats roam, love them? who are they kidding, if you love them you dont let them out to risk being torn apart by another cat or a dog or hit by a car, surely????? some woman on face plant was asking for help to find her "much loved" unchipped, undesexed tom who had not come home. totally ignorant she had left him with no way to be traced without a chip, would follow any female in season goodness knows how far away and oblivious to any cars when distracted. Let alone how many native animals it will thrill kill. our neighbour won't lock up their cat and I have heaps of native birds thanks to a very good habitat around my home for native birds and it keeps coming here to thrill kill. her excuse? I doesn't like being inside. tough luck. If I catch it its going to the pound, hope it isn't chipped, hopefully with a new owner and chip it might be kept inside and far from my place Edited January 10 by asal 1
