Ben111
Hi all, Hoping for some ideas on kennels or trainers that board aggressive dogs in southeast Queensland. While we train and have good control over our problem pup at home we find it difficult to find boarding solutions when we are away. Any ideas on boarding establishments in the region that specialise in/accept aggressive dogs?
Boronia
@Ben111, I had a look on-line and this company came up, they do aggressive dog boarding, I have no idea what they are like so you'd best have a hunt around for reviews. https://elitek9resort.com/ Can your breeder possibly board your dog for short periods? The business name rang a bell, so I googled them... there are news stories about dogs dying in their care, both in Sydney and Nerang... so I might look elsewhere... errr! Papillon Kisses
Hi Ben, I’d go to the Pet Professional Guild Australia’s advanced directory, leave the search field open to QLD (i.e. don’t go more specific), then in the pet care section select all relevant options – that is, include things like house and pet sitting, not just pet resorts or boarding. https://www.ppgaustralia.net.au/Member-Search?&tab=1 The majority of those listed are qualified force free dog trainers, and there’s also a behaviour vet there. When you click on their profiles, you’ll also see who does aggressive dog consults, which may be a further mark of potential suitability. If they can’t do it themselves, ask who they would recommend whether that’s an individual or facility (and perhaps places to avoid if they are open to answering that). The industry is pretty well connected. Note that sometimes dog trainers don’t mention it on their own websites that they offer pet/house sitting if it’s something they only do occasionally, so if you navigate there and there’s no specific page it doesn’t necessarily mean that they don’t offer it anymore. Good luck!
Dogsfevr
Most boarding kennels will not take on liability dogs. We wont take knowingly aggressive dogs . Your biggest factor will be finding a facility built to manage & minimize the issue your dog has . Aka if dog aggressive then a facility set up so the dog cannot spar through the fences all day & night ,become over stimulated & reactive If you human then most wont bother . Also consider the time of year boarding that covers quieter periods . Sadly many kennels have had their experience with issue dogs & dont repeat the experience often as its too stressful for the staff & the dog Edited January 23 by Dogsfevr
Little Gifts
I am picking up a foster today from Rossmore Boarding Kennels in Chambers Flat. The lady I have been dealing with is Helen and she is a trainer who works there (she doesn't own the kennels or work for the rescue). The boy I am picking up is dog aggressive and she has been working with him while he's been staying there awaiting a foster spot. Chambers Flat is in the Logan area of SEQ. Could be worth a call? https://rossmorekennels.com/
