misseymoo
Can I get my bitch neutered when she has started spotting blood
Papillon Kisses
Welcome to DOL. I think it’s something that they can technically do at any time, but I think they usually wait until dogs finish their heat cycle. That might be outdated information though. I’d call your vet and ask. The vet nurse likely knows the procedure. If you’re struggling with the mess and protecting her while she’s fertile, I’m sure someone here will be able to give you advice. I’m not that person having only had desexed males. Edited July 5, 2023 by Papillon Kisses
Dogsfevr
i would never spay a bitch whilst in season & most vets will not recommend it .
_PL_
It can be done but everything is more vascular. Not all vets will do it due to bleeding.
Rascalmyshadow
I wouldn’t risk it, wait at least 6-8 weeks after her season is completely over, even though it’s a routine surgery it should be taken seriously and any complications should be minimised.
~Anne~
Yep, the risk of a bleed is increased greatly. It’s really only done in emergencies. Better off keeping her safe and waiting until she’s done.
Flyntahn
I know of a bitch that died when neutered whilst in season. I wouldnt recommend it.
