Zookoo
Hi, I have a puppy thats 1.4yrs old and hes a Jack Russell cross. He has a slight bump on his lower back, but its gotten more noticeable over the months. It feels like one of his vertebrae which has gotten big, or a vertebrae that popped out? Hes not experiencing any sensitivity or pain when I touch it, and hes happy and active. He's eating normally and not acting strange. I will be taking him to the vet eventually, but thought I'd write here in case someone might have an idea of what it could be first. I can't really find anything online that would indicate what something like this could be. Ideas? Thanks -Zookoo
persephone
Hi - a vet would be the only way to find out what's happening - sorry. Online help is limited . He needs experienced hands-on, and possibly Xrays etc. especially as it seems to be growing.
_PL_
Hi again Zookoo! Agreeing with Perse, the spine is so complex, with any number of potential issues far beyond what you can find on the internet without a diagnosis first. Dr Google will often scare the pants off people! Once you have your vet advice I'd really love to know what they say. Mairead
Your observations and the time line will be very useful to the vet. You might want to write them down and take them with you so you don't forget anything
Zookoo
Thanks all! I guess its hard to tell without tests and Xrays. I will be taking him to the vet
Zookoo
Just an update! I had a chat to a vet on VetChat and she said if the lump doesn't go away in a week or 2, then take him to a vet. The lump has shrunk so he must have just bumped his back, so that's a relief!
