Sallie
Hi, I’m after some advice. I’m looking at buying a purebred puppy. However the owner is very new to this, this being their first littler. They have papers for both parents but are not sure in how to register the puppies so they have their own papers. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction in how this is done. I am aware that it isn’t my job to find out this information, but I am curious about the process and it helps with my education in ensuring I’m buying from reputable owners. (If I can help educate them as well then that’s amazing). thank you I’m advanced for your time and assistance
Rebanne
if the owner is not a member of a state body i.e. DogsNSW and has not done the breeder course then the pups will not be able to be registered. Have the parents of the pups had their relevant health tests?
_PL_
Like Rebanne said, if they are just breeding papered parents without actually being members of DogsNSW, you can't get pedigree papers for the puppies. If the breeders are actually members they'd be pretty clear on how to get papers so I'm not sure if you're just dealing with something shifty or if they genuinely don't know.
sandgrubber
not to mention that the parents must be on Main (not Limited) Register. This information is on their pedigree papers.
JRG
I think that not only do they need to be current members of DogsNSW (or equivalent State body) but also have been a member for a period of time not just joining to register a litter. Do you know someone who is a DogsNSW member? If so, they would be able to look at the A.N.K.C. **database to see what registration your breeder and the parents of this pup have. Alternatively you can aiways ring the DogsNSW office. ** not ANKC anymore they changed their name just before Christmas!
