CoolPonies
Hi all, I'm getting a 10 week old mini poodle next week and would love to start her on a raw diet. My previous dogs did really well on it but they were both adults when I started. Currently I'm tossing up between pre made barf patties + bones (chicken necks/wings) or mixing mince along with a supplement and bones Has anyone used the vets all natural mix? Or any other supplement? I've linked a few I've been looking into. Or would it be better to use the pre-made patties until she is a bit older and then go home made. I'm able to get fresh minced chicken frames and different bones etc at my butcher and was going to add in yoghurt, eggs, carrot to chew on etc. https://www.vetnpetdirect.com.au/products/vets-all-natural-complete-mix-diet-mix-grain-gluten-free https://www.vetnpetdirect.com.au/collections/vitamins-supplements-for-dogs/products/predamax-carnivore-supplement https://bestiekitchen.com/products/the-allrounder-balancing-supplement-homemade-dog-food?variant=31055194619947
Boronia
my dogs are old but mostly I feed raw (Zara McDandie gets some Urinary S/O a couple of times a week) and I add the VAN to their tea each evening this one they love it. I also give Henry and Maxi the Health Booster here They do very well on it. Contact VAN and ask them for their advice, they are really helpful https://vetsallnatural.com.au/contact/
Rebanne
check with your breeder that they are happy with what you are planning and aren't voiding any guarantees. All my, large breed, pups were raised on a mixture of raw and commercial food. I never added much in the way of vegies unless I had some left overs. Raw meaty bones/mince plus some eggs, sardines, sometimes left over rice/pasta. My dogs do all like raw carrots though! But that's as a treat.
leac1801
I would do premade, especially for a puppy. I used to do full DIY and whole prey, it's a pain, and there is no way I'd shortcut it with supplements. My preferred would be Proudi, then Big Dog. If I could avoid an astronomical feed bill, I'd love to do premade, but I have two large sport dogs who already eat a ridiculous amount of food.
sandgrubber
At 10 weeks, be very careful about freshness, especially with chicken. Healthy mature dogs can handle Salmonella. It can kill baby dogs. I've encountered chicken mince sold for dogs that smelled putrid.
Osza
Having discussed Dog & Cat diets with numerous Vets & Breeders over many years….. Royal Canin Dry Kibble is always recommended. I mix the Kibble with cooked Vegetables. Dogs are Omnivores the same as we are….if you go on the web there are countless articles about what foods Dogs can eat. My last 2 Dogs lived till 15.6yrs & 17.5yrs. My Persian Cat lived till he was 16.3yrs…they all were fed Royal Canin & loved it….many Breeders feed their animals Royal Canin. Fresh Meat is full of Bacteria ….. & must always be well cooked. I never give bones to my Dogs. I give them a raw carrot…..local Vet has a huge jar in his surgery. He told me the Bones in the jar have been removed from Dogs tummies. Some Dogs survived, others never made it….naturally he was anti-bones for all Dogs. Rebanne
To anyone reading this thread please disregard Osza's advice re meat and bones. Do your own research and you will find out how poor that advice is

Do your own research and you will find out how poor that advice is I suspect Everyone (almost) is good at ignoring feeding advice. So many opinions. So few long term feeding studies.
