Black skin becoming pink under collar

My foster, Wee Maxi still has black skin on most of his body, this is caused by a long term untreated fungal infection. I have been oiling him regularly with Keri oil, I infused it with dried Calendula petals.

His black skin is dotted with pink spots of healthy skin on his chest, tummy and on his back near his tail but interestingly the skin under his collar is nearly all pink.

Does anyone here know why this is so? The only reason I can think of is that the temperature of his skin may be a smidgen higher to the rest of his body and the fungal infection may not thrive in that area

Usually fungal infections thrive in moist or damp areas... but Wee Maxi seems to be bucking that trend... lol!

 

Do you know what fungus he has? F10 shampoo might be helpful, as it is magic stuff that most nasties can't withstand. We wash our ringwormy piglets in it at work, and it really seems to speed up the healing process... much faster than Malaseb.

The collar may be acting as a skin shedder when it rubs & wears .
Dogs often with crazy spays coats have a good coat under there collar as the collar often rubs so does the work the owners dont

both of those ideas make sense though the wee boy gets combed after his oiling (which makes him sort-of twitch with delight) I will try the F10 shampoo though as it seems to be taking forever to get his skin back to pink. There is still new hair poking through especially on his front legs and back, it's amazing how resilient hair follicles are
