Nepal_AU
Finally brought in a brittany puppy few weeks ago from the register breeder in Melbourne. Loving it :). It had it first vaccinations at 6 through breeder and second vaccinations in 10 weeks , last week. Vet told me i can only have final one 6 weeks later at 16. But i read 4 weeks apart so should be at 14. Since puppy schools are mostly closed and or not available till late july feel like i am missing out on dog socialization. So if i can have his shot at 14 i be able to take him out earlier . Just wondering if it is ok to vaccinate at 14 or should i wait till 16 ? So where can i take him as he already had his second shot ? Thanks all in advance for your replies every one has been really helpful and got useful information always.

Here’s a position statement from AVSAB on socialisation. You do not need to and should not wait until the last needles! https://avsab.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Puppy_Socialization_Position_Statement_Download_-_10-3-14.pdf Many positive trainers are offering online puppy schools at the moment and will teach you how to properly socialise your puppy. The PPGA website is a good place to look for trainers. Two I know off the top of my head are All Pets Education & Training, and Polite Paws. Socialisation is about forming positive associations with all manner of things including novelty, noises, surfaces, sights, etc. Not just seeing other pups at classes and definitely not the puppy mosh pits that can happen at poorly-run classes. Or going to dog parks (DO NOT go to dog parks). As an example, just going on a drive, parking the car, and seeing the world pass by from a safe place can be socialisation. Oh something else I recommend is getting the sound proof puppy training app which has a bunch of noises you can play while they’re doing something fun like eating meals or playing with you. Be sure to read the instructions. Edited June 19, 2020 by Papillon Kisses
mackiemad
Most puppy schools allow unvaccinated puppies (or puppies not finished their schedule) as they clean the area with f10 or similar beforehand anyway - so ask around and see if puppy schools have places available for you and your puppy anyway Just make sure you use a puppy school that is not just a free for all play session it's not great doggy manners to constantly run up to other dogs and get in their faces. PK has given some great tips, so definitely give those a go
Dogsfevr
Depends on the brand used ,the answer is based on what has been used . Your breeder should be the person you ask about this
megz74
My pup just had her last vaccination at 12 weeks. Her needles were at 6, 9 & 12 weeks of age. Weird how some vets are so different
sandgrubber
You'd have to expose a few hundred puppies to parvo to get a solid answer, and even then, its possible that what you find for one breed isn't true for some other breed. No one does the research. They do titres, but titres carry some uncertainty. And you may need to repeat for each of several vaccines. Bottom line : The later the last jab the safer, but 14 vs 16 weeks may be 99 vs 99.5% safe. It comes down to a judgment call.
