My mini dachshund is always itchy

Can anyone help me out? My girl is almost 2 years old and I’ve been struggling with her skin for over a year now. We had fleas in the yard but that problem has professionally dealt with and haven’t had a flea for over 5 months, but she constantly itches, to the point where she makes herself bleed in places. She’s lost a fair bit of fur on the chest and stomach and is starting to get small red lumps on her ears (pic included). I have tried everything I can think of to help her, antihistamines and Prednisone from the vets only work temporarily, I bath her about 1 to 2 times a week with Malaseb shampoo which isn’t seem to be helping either, not sure if I should take her back to the vet or try something else? If anyone has some advice it would be really appreciated

I wouldn't waste anymore time or money with your local vet as what they have given you is only working for a short time.

Have you tried organic calendula tea ??  Make it up & sponge it on.  some people swear by it. Have you tried eliminating things from her diet??  What do you feed her??

Definitely see a vet dermatologist. You could waste a lot of time and money trying different things that might be useless, all the while your girl suffers.

5 months is also not long after a severe infestation .

You need to do a food diary even if you head down the specialist path they will ask what you feed.

if you do decide to make Calendula tea you can buy ginormous big bags of Calendula petals here (1kg of dried petals=really big bag)

what is also helpful is to massage Calendula-infused almond oil (you can make this yourself) into his skin, add drops of lavender oil as it's beneficial as well.

The above tips are useful in soothing the skin and help very well in fungal infections, Calendula is marvellous though I feel that you should bring out the 'big guns' and take him to a specialist first, finding the source is the first step.

Many vets put the itchy dog on Apoquel + antibiotics first as the Apoquel lessens the itch and the AB's clear up any bacterial infection that is usually present, this gives the body time to repair then one can start on finding the exact cause. (fungal, allergies (including contact allergies) bacterial or even household cleaners)  I am a little concerned with what the pest-man has been using as well.
