Brit johnson
I have a 1 year old shepherd mix. We have had him since 8 weeks old and I have been home with him everyday until this last month. He gets fed around 6am, gets walked and is outside for around 2 hours before I leave and eats around 6:30pm when I get home. Everyday around 1pm-2pm he poops in the house. I work 9-6 everyday and am unable to come home during work to let him out. Does anybody have any recommendations on how to get him to change his schedule? tdierikx
Does he poop in the morning? What are you feeding him? Some cheaper kibble can result in multiple poops each day - premium kibble may result in less poops... and thus negate his need for the lunchtime evacuations. T. Rebanne
Can you get a dog walker in at that time? A doggy door to a secure area? Feed less in the morning, just a token feed with main meal at night? Or try the reverse?
Dogsfevr
It may take time but his whole routine has changed and most likely toileting midday very normal whilst you are home or he had free access to get outside ,now he doesn’t have the access or the person to let him out . It could stress related pooing knowing he can’t get out
Mim
Can you give him a toilet inside? Could be as simple as a puppy pad or some newspaper or even a "pet loo". Somewhere he can poo on that is easy to clean up. If not, consider a dog walker as someone mentioned above.
