There is no such thing as affordable pet insurance without a bazillion exclusions insurance companies get away with high premiums because they can! Of course you do whatever it takes (at least for me) for the dog, but having insurance just makes it less stressful when you need to use it. I have on multiple occasions considered cancelling and just putting money away for a rainy day. But I haven't been able to.
