That doesn’t mean someone hasn’t brought them into the country, just they won’t be running around the show ring. But I’d be more inclined to think the alleged ones over here are a general hunting mix with probably merle Dane genes in there, like bullarab, Am Bulldog, G Dane mixes or such, maybe even Koolie, and anything boofy looking with that muddy Merle colour gets called a Catahoula or mix of....... Diva
There are some said to be here, in hunting circles, and probably many claimed to be that aren’t. If anyone wanted to get the breed ANKC registered it would not be hard if it is already accepted by the AKC, especially as that is the country of origin. minxy
I can't say for sure, but there was a dog at the dog park I ran into a few weeks ago and the owner said he was a Catahoula. Definitely didn't look like either of those two links, but moreso like the actual one from the AKC. It was a crossbred rescue for sure and about 11 years old. JulesP
A quick search found at least one breeder - https://www.fairmatecatahoulas.com/ They 'imported' the dogs at the same time they 'imported' themselves
asal
fascinating well this litter is the closest in age to the add https://www.fairmatecatahoulas.com/5th-litter-august-2016.html And the western australian breeder. well news is the rspca is out to ban all hunting, apparently ACT will be the first state to ban it. interesting they are fitted with radio trackers, scroll through the photos. apparen Edited February 23, 2019 by asal

Two Best Dogs!
There's quite a few catahoulas - purebreds and crosses of - in the farmer hunting dog groups. Especially up QLD way but down here in Victoria too. Nobody wants to leave a dog behind on someones farm land. I'm forever hoping to grab one second hand as a bit of bush hiking safety backup (specifically the garmin T5 au as its radio frequencies dont conflict with the search and rescue frequencies)
asal
Well by the photograph it may well have been bred by the Qld breeder. the puppy shot is adorable, better get down to vic fast, she is going for only 28 dollars
sandgrubber
There were quite a few Catahoulas around where I lived in Florida. Great farm and hunting dogs, IMO lovely to look at and watch. But not good house dogs (in rural Florida, the most common house dog is probably a pit bull type).
The Spotted Devil
I had a Catahoula pup in one of my classes. Gorgeous but a LOT of dog. Way too much for his inexperienced owner.
Kirislin
I’ve seen one in Victoria. It was a few years ago now. I knew what it was which surprised the owner.
