Salevasa Thomson
Good afternoon, is anyone aware of breeders in Australia? WA would be fantastic but aware I could be pushing it. Am really keen in purchasing puppy after the New Year. THANKS
sandgrubber
I wouldn't look. Fox reds are rare, and anyone breeding for them is working from a very restricted gene pool. See recent posts on health in chocolate Labs. It's not that the color itself is bad, but breeders who specialize in a rare color are likely to overlook health and temperament factors to get the desired color. Also to inbreed. Fox red is MUCH less common than chocolate, and the problems that come with breeding for color are likely to be acute. asal
as someone said in the thread I found, whatever happened to the golden Labrador and retriever? they have been damped down to cream and almost white from the dogs we used to see? they were not the norm 30 and 40 years ago
The Spotted Devil
Interestingly the working line Labs and Goldens are a deep golden colour and the show lines tend to be more pale. I know of one Fox Red Lab who is from UK working lines.

A golden Labrador is a Labrador x Goldie. I agree, cream color has become more prevalent, but the true fox red has always been rare
JRG
I have seen them in the field, but never among the show bred stock.
kamuzz
My boss has one - bought from a breeder somewhere near Sydney. Not much help to you in Perth, but I could ask for the name if you like?
