Feeding cat food to dogs?

This is more of a curiosity question, as i don't feed my dog my cats food regularly, other than leftovers my dog gets, that my cat leaves in her bowl every now and then.

The main reason i have read discouraging giving dogs cat food, is the too high protein and fat in cat food. However, both their foods have the same % of protein and fat, with the cats food have 150 more calories per kilogram.

Are there any other reasons cat food is not good for dogs?

Nope. However you should not feed dog food to cats as there are several amino acids, eg taurine, that are destroyed in the cooking process and specifically added to cat food.

A lot of cat food also has a higher salt content than dog food... so I wouldn't feed it regularly...

Many give tin cat food especially to fussy eaters & many did for the taurine aspect.
WE have used tin food but wouldn't give the dry

Not as a regular thing ..but as cat food usually smells strongly - I often use it to tempt older dogs ..or use the dry pieces as treats .

Actually, if you're doing the grain free thing, cat food might help prevent taurine deficiency .
