Dog owners urged to keep dogs on lead following attack

This is my biggest fear and why I so very rarely walk locally. So many off lead little dogs roaming their front yards that follow and harass your bigger dog! And owners just let them with no consideration for big dog owner!

I used to have a friend who boasted about her little dog’s  bravery in running out and attacking an on-lead Deerhound every time it was walked past their house. She stopped when I asked what she thought was going to happen when that deerhound’s enormous reserve of patience finally ran out.

Even though I have miniature schnauzers, they are not 'allowed' to get away with bad behaviour just because of their size.  It's absolutely not an excuse.  In my life time, I have had many different breeds, starting as a child,  pekingese up to great danes at different times.  Now I suppose I have downsized.  I find it abhorrent that owners of small breed dogs think it cute or funny when their dogs go for it.The owner of the small dog in question has a lot to answer for.  Because of this behaviour, there are now two dogs dead.  I hope that if in the future, they have another dog they will they have learnt a lesson, even though it was the hard way.

 I own little dogs and have seen some really poor behaviour on both sides. It's humans in the end.
