Pomeranian liver Posted March 3, 2018 Share Posted March 3, 2018 My Pomeranian pup is 3 months old. 2 weeks ago her whole personality change over night. She would be screaming when she woke up as if she was being hurt , would not allow you to touch or pick her up, running back and forth in a manic state and would carm down after she wore herself out. This became a nightly thing with her and worsened to pacing and running back and forth doing the day. She had a seizure early one morning.wait on blood test from vet. I have been told these things are not related to epilepsy. Could it have been from her 3 vacation? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Tassie Posted March 3, 2018 Share Posted March 3, 2018 That's worrying for you. A few thoughts ... what vaccinations has she had, and when. What about worming? It might be interesting to put the dates down and also dates when you've noticed these odd behaviours. If she were mine, I'd be asking her breeder if there have been any similar things that the breeder's aware of in litter mates, or in other dogs in her lines. Did you buy her from a private seller , or a breeder ( you would have a pedigree with her kennel name etc ) ? Can you remember if she had jumped , or twisted , or anything which may have hurt her ? RuralPug Posted March 3, 2018 Share Posted March 3, 2018 Honestly the symptoms don't sound like any vaccination reaction that I have ever seen, I agree ask the breeder if there is anything like that known in the family. As Tassie says, keep a diary of these episodes and anything that might have happened through the day. The breeder is very helpful and is working with me on this as nothing is showing up so far, she is also willing to pay for a specialist and to have MRI done at a cost of$2000. Still waiting on final blood tests. on the 11.10.2007 a person called pugsnfrenchies had posted on some similar screaming behaviour on their post and advising not to have this brand of vaccine. But I'm so glad that you have the help and support of her breeder ... that is really good to hear. I did see that other post on the old thread, and I guess vaccine reaction is a possibility. Your breeder's vet might be more willing than your own vet to investigate the possibility. ETA On pup's vacc certificate it will say which vaccine was given. so C3, C5, or C7 .. and which brand. I would take up the breeder’s offer, but go to another vet who is more willing to seek answers and, hopefully, remedies. Best to try and keep the puppy as calm and comfortable as you can while waiting on results from your tests. Fingers crossed it's something the vets can help with. ish Posted March 3, 2018 Share Posted March 3, 2018 I lost my GSD puppy at this age last year due to seizures and I’ve been suspicious it was a vaccine reaction. She had her vaccination on the Monday and showed some strange behaviour Thursday with first seizure that night. She was never normal after that, and lived in a zombie-like state for almost a week while we tried medications but was then put to sleep. She just had something to eat out of her bowl and now she is scared of her bowl. This lasts for a couple of hours and then she can get very aggressive to. When something unusual happens with puppies, it is always really important to share the knowledge , so that it may be helpful to someone else later on . It may be helpful to you, too ..somebody might see , and say 'Hey!~! I've seen that before!! " Have you had dogs before , or is this your first puppy ?
