twodoggies2001
We have a new puppy Leroy, to keep Elliot company after we lost Jasper. They get on beautifully but today I noticed that the stuffed toy I bought for Leroy to cuddle into and sleep with in his crate at night is in Elliot's sights and he is guarding this toy and keeping Leroy away, even though there are many toys around the house. Leroy loves this toy too and trying to prevent world war 3, I took it away from them. Advice please.
The Spotted Devil
Get two more. One each and a spare
RuralPug
You have acted correctly. If there is a toy that they both want and won't share, take that toy away. Try to encourage them in games so that that they share toys, playing tug etc. Rope toys are very good for that.
Kazm
I would be a big softy and buy another so they could have one each.
RuralPug
Having one each sounds good in theory, but in practice I have found that of two identical stuffed toys, one will be popular and the other ignored. I've no idea why that is! 1
sandgrubber
Puppies, kids, the world in general... don't always behave according to your/my ideas. Sometimes it's easier to forget trying to control and let it be.
Rebanne
Leroy only gets the toy when both dogs are in their crates

Elliot has the run of the house, day and night. Today, it seems there is not problem with this toy mainly because they have so many to choose from. Hopefully it will continue this way as yesterday was the first time this 'problem' occurred.
Dogsfevr
I would remove the toy and it’s a treat only for Leroy . Easier to just place the toy away then create a potential issue with two new dogs

Or if only one crated, then it stays in Leroy's crate, shut in if necessary.
