shel
Should totally be trusted to self-appoint to run a major donation platform on behalf of rescue. There are no red flags here. None.

There are no red flags here. None. Wow! Sarcasm font archived! Totally! And this is the real crux of the problem. This is what we should be complaining to ACC about. Or withdrawing in hordes from PetRescue. Does anyone know whatever happened to minikitty commune's attempt to build a rival free adoption advertisement website?

shel
15 staff members? I mean, wtaf?
RuralPug
So what do the 15 staff members do? Does that count those that are only occasional - say 1 hour a week? Would their offices even hold 15 people working at the one time? If they would list job titles and average hours for each position it might be more believable.
_PL_
15 staff. Is that like their claim of 950 rescue groups? 1
Little Gifts
I wonder how many of the 15 staff are related to each other in some way? Pet Rescue are following the RSPCA's model - say the right stuff and pull at the heartstrings to make money but don't actually get your hands dirty - leave that to all the independant rescue groups running on the smell of an oily rag. It is just so deceptive to the general public! Why does an online platform need 15 staff and a million odd dollars to run? I wonder how they assess their KPI's against their forever home vision? It's really disheartening that we have the RSPCA, puppy farmers, back yard breeders and now PR all making money off the backs of companion animals. When does it end? Where is it going to lead? It's certainly not saving more animals! 3
_PL_
Half are unpaid volunteers . Makes it sound better to say 15 though when you look at the wages. 1

shel
And it's not even relevant anyway, because the lady was asking about a very specific set of wages - that of the two directors - not the wages of the entire office. Which, for a public company, should be perfectly justifiable for the public to ask about. Especially given that PetRescue wants rescue groups to support them this coming February, by volunteering their time to attend a corporate partner's adoption event (The PETstock National Adoption Day).
Little Gifts
Geez, how do we a directors job there? Only in animal welfare would you get away with having as many volunteers as you do paid staff. That's another thing RSPCA do. 1
The Spotted Devil
Holy crap! I’m an animal welfare/behaviour scientist in a lucrative start up tech company. What I wouldn’t give to earn that!!! 3
shel
PetRescue is looking for rescue group volunteers to staff their corporate relationship building event 'the National Pet Adoption Day'... http://mailchi.mp/petrescue/npad-get-involved?e=[UNIQID] ... just a few short weeks after they used the "Desexmas" campaign to take money earmarked for animal care, from rescue groups and direct it into web development and staff wages. To add injury to insult, PetRescue would also like rescue groups to lend their time, pets, and adoption stories for the media. https://jb32.typeform.com/to/tFfRoG PetRescue might be presenting this event as an "opportunity" but it is actually very much a FAVOUR being asked of rescue groups. Which is fine. As long as groups feel PetRescue deserve to be offered such a favour. But given there has been absolutely no 'mea culpa' on Desexmas, they seem to think they've done no wrong. Which should give everyone pause as to how many more favours they're willing to do to help PetRescue secure and keep their corporate paycheques.

_PL_
Broke-arse Rescuer Located in Sydney NSW Available for interstate adoption. Adoption policy; Flexible We're seeking adoption for nice if not a bit bitey rescuer. After 15 years of work, she doesn't need a lot of exercise and is on joint supplements to help her creaky knees. She's well house trained and somebody obviously loved her before she came to us. A working breed; ideally, we need her a nice safe job where she can rescue but not really. I mean kind-of. Not actually touch the rescued animals anymore but maybe pose for photos with them. That would suit her down to the ground. She's easily bored and will have a hard time settling on just one task at hand. She will want to be everywhere all at once. Internet, newspapers, events, off-colour fundraising. All that good stuff. No heavy lifting of any kind. She'll be helpful with self promotion and attending industry events. Loving a pat on the back. She's an indoors human and must have full access to to a nice new office at all times. Must be paid an unseemly amount of money. If you're a self appointed (but not self funded) flagship charity considering adopting, this is your gal. Look forward to hearing from you. Cheers.
