Canisbellum
Think you're right: wasn't sure if Bunya Bunya (araucaria bidwillii which is Australian) or Monkey Puzzle (araucaria araucana, which is South American). A few of the Australian wattles and hakeas (and some eucs and grevilleas) are declared pest species in South Africa, just like the African Lily is an invasive weed in Victoria (agapanthus stars in one of Canetoad's shots). Also African Daisies, Cape Marigold etc are now pests in South Australia. I suppose fair's fair, bit of stupid on both sides letting them grow uncontrolled. Canetoad I loved your comment on the safety railing - that's gold. Oh, you thought I was joking? It's true, common sense is a requirement those without it don't survive for long. PossumCorner
Course you weren't joking. Our railing regulations are insane. It's not about safety it's about revenue raising. Council came to our house all flags flying to measure the drop from the new deck. The three of them it took, no joke, to measure it (all in three-piece suits) had to admit it was about one inch inside the legal limit for no railing. (Like, you could step off it). Were they pissed off! - couldn't fine us. And that was from a dob-in from a nosey neighbour. Surely it's nothing to do with claiming that any one nationality (or multi-cultural society) has more or less common sense or street smarts than any another as needed. It's just a bit of fun to use as a stick to poke with, that's what's funny. None of us would extend that to pool fencing rules, which have saved the lives of thousands of toddlers. It's a bit of of fun and frustration from dealing with all the ridiculous legislation combined. Like you can even legislate against stupidity

Scottsmum
Um. Playing catch up. Wanted to look on the computer, not phone. So glad I did. Pilanesberg National park looks amazing. I particularly liked the dam photo. The casino is cool/strange/off in ways only casinos can be and even the botanical gardens look incredible. Canisbellum
So I am home now and working my way through the thousands of photos I have taken. These are all taken in the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront which is still a working harbour Edited March 15, 2017 by Canetoad

PossumCorner
Welcome home, wondered why the few weeks silence. Shots are not coming up on my screen, I can click a small-'x' and it goes briefly to your bucket account for one shot, then screen is deluged with Telstra and other ads difficult to get rid of. Jeeze I hate computers sometimes.

Canisbellum
Going to try this with Imgur now. We went to the World of Birds in Hout Bay which is a private bird park where they take in and either keep or if possible try and rehabilitate damaged birds and unwanted pets. Lots more coming Edited March 29, 2017 by Canetoad

PossumCorner
Wonderful images. And loving the Guinea Fowl as I have a few running around, they are my little bit of Africa to remind me of working in Kenya/Tanzania/Nigeria for 2-3 years. But more important, who is Canisbellum, and what has he done with Canetoad and was anyone consulted?? (from one who occasionally doesn't cope well with change).

Canisbellum
I got bored with Canetoad and prefer my new user name which comes from a Shakespeare quote in Julius Ceasar "Cry 'Havoc!', and let slip the dogs of war" . Dogs of war translates to Canisbellum in Latin More importantly it looks like the forum is working nicely with photobucket again
