Mind you, don't often have to cope with those temps, although I did driving across the Nullarbor. I usually use a white towel, soaked in water draped over the crate to keep it cool if I have to leave the car (not dogs) in the sun. I've also (at home or places where it's safe, put a big towel on the outside of the back window .. just held by the door corners.
